There have been a few, but usually due to extended maintenance intervals.

Not the guys that drive (hotshots) nothing but highway, but the people that do 10-12k with in town driving.

I know hotshots that do 12-15k intervals on Duramax 6.6L (recommended is 7500) and have over 600K miles.

I've gone 15k a couple times on mobile1. I'm not proud of this but I guess I can consider myself lucky.
Id like to see the carnage.

Yeah. Not blaming the OP, but the guys who drive 10k/yr and do 10/k oil changes aren’t doing their trucks any favors

You are not wrong. I do 5K changes on my DMax/Corolla/Subaru/everything else DD, 3K on my SC Mustang. Oil is cheap. Engine work is not.

This could not be the case here either. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. That is why you have a healthy "oh crap" fund for something that comes up in this crazy thing called life.

I would shop on the national registry for used motors with a warranty. Might get out of this for under 8K. I would definitely not use the dealership.

So far OP, this is the worst kind of first post. Little to no info. It's a complaint. Zero interaction with those engaging with you. Anything else you can add?

Ah. You bought someone else's problem and reaping all the reward. Did you get any maintenance records when you bought it?

Unfortunately, I bought it as is with no warranty from a not so favorable Toyota dealership. I did call them and basically got told assed out.

Yikes. So now you basically paid upward of 40k for a 2015 truck (10 y/o truck) with 128k+ on it. That's rough dude.

Just hoping and praying trans is going to last the life of the reman motor, any suggestions on other things that I should have done while it's in the shop. I was gonna have water pump replaced as well. Just because. Pretty much a novice when it comes to this kind of situation. I don't want it to turn into a money pit, would rather do as much as possible initially.

    * Replace your chain tensioner,l (lots of posts in here with "why does my truck sound like a diesel)https://www.tundras.com/threads/chain-tensioner-and-cam-tower-reseal-maybe.151853/
    * new engine mounts (why not),
    * look at your cam tower seals (sticky thread on top of this forum),
*look at your fan blade and all belts since it's already out.
*look hard at your at radiator and hoses.
