2015 threw rod 128000 miles

I've gone 15k a couple times on mobile1. I'm not proud of this but I guess I can consider myself lucky.

Yeah. Not blaming the OP, but the guys who drive 10k/yr and do 10/k oil changes aren’t doing their trucks any favors

 

Was just posting this on another thread. What cylinder? Back in 2012-2014 we had a few rods go. Happened to both N/A and supercharged Tundras. Piston ring/land failure? No 5?

My apologies, was @work. I put 6k miles on it since I bought it from Toyota dealership. 2 oil changes. mostly city driving, taking it to the highway twice a month. In the process of replacing with a remanufactured fro c&k @a different dealership.

 

Ah. You bought someone else's problem and reaping all the reward. Did you get any maintenance records when you bought it?

 

Seems likely, I can only hope I'll be made whole after the reman is installed

Unfortunately, I bought it as is with no warranty from a not so favorable Toyota dealership. I did call them and basically got told assed out.

I was trying to register with this forum before I ordered the engine, but wasn't able to until today. Already in the queue to have it replaced

 

Yikes. So now you basically paid upward of 40k for a 2015 truck (10 y/o truck) with 128k+ on it. That's rough dude.

 

Just hoping and praying trans is going to last the life of the reman motor, any suggestions on other things that I should have done while it's in the shop. I was gonna have water pump replaced as well. Just because. Pretty much a novice when it comes to this kind of situation. I don't want it to turn into a money pit, would rather do as much as possible initially.

 

You run a VIN check and carfax on that thing?

 

gotta carfax when I bought it, couple of fenderbenders, but very little info besides that

 

Always keep walking when there’s no or even poor maintenance records.

* Replace your chain tensioner,l (lots of posts in here with "why does my truck sound like a diesel)https://www.tundras.com/threads/chain-tensioner-and-cam-tower-reseal-maybe.151853/
* new engine mounts (why not),
* look at your cam tower seals (sticky thread on top of this forum),
*look at your fan blade and all belts since it's already out.
*look hard at your at radiator and hoses.
