    Hi,
New to the forum . I’m looking for recommendations on a shop to replace my windshield.

I prefer original parts if possible.

It will be helpful to provide your location so if there are members around you, perhaps they can provide a recommendation.

Try to get the upgraded acoustic windshield as your replacement, comes standard in Platinum, 1794, Pro, and Capstone

Since you want OEM parts, you need to make sure you ask for them - the glass itself **AND** the moldings. I needed to have a windshield replaced on my Tacoma asked for OEM glass - which I got. But I got aftermarket molding which looked like crap.

Dealer did mine. 2025 1794 edition. $1700 and they did a great job, looks original. Factory glass and insurance paid.

Lots of insurance will only do OEM if no aftermarket can be sourced.

Call your dealer and ask who they use. I went through a terrible experience on my first windshield with only 500 miles on the truck. I called the dealer and they use two vendors. The one I went with only does Toyotas and mostly Tundras.

Insurance company sent me an email stating due to the safety components the windshield must be replaced to factory specifications. I assume that's why they didn't balk about the Toyota glass and price.

I am getting another windshield in tomorrow. My glass guy used to work for me and is trustworthy - he told me State Farm will only pay OEM if nothing else is available. So I am getting an aftermarket. The other 2 replacements were Toyota’s. See how it goes. As fast as I am going through these windshields it may not matter. This will be the 4 including the original.

Are they still doing the Morse code on the OE windshields? Gotta ensure you have that! Still one of my favorite Easter eggs along with the trucks in the TRD bed decal.

What the heck? How are you trashing so many windshields?

He follows those 12 wheel gravel trucks busting it down the interstate at 80-85 mph throwing rocks all along the way I guess...that's how it happens in NJ.

Bruh I'm also on my 4th windshield at 7,000 miles. They all have been OEM glass with the morse code and the Toyota Trucks stamp so I can confirm that.

Two of my windshields got smacked and cracked from truck/semi ejecting rocks from the wheels lugs going the opposite direction. This is very common in rural areas where vehicles are traveling from dirt roads and onto paved roads. While getting up to speed it flings them out for several miles.

The third window I was driving on the highway in the right lane and I saw a rock kick up from a brand new Range Rover Defender from the middle lane. Saw it launch and arc about 12 feet in the air and about 40 feet to hit my windshield. I instinctually dodged as it would have hit me in the face.

It's random dumb stupid bad luck bruh.

Bruh the same tech replaced all my front windshields for the Tundra and reused the original molding each time. It still looks brand new. Unless there's a different molding between Tundra models he shouldn't need it?

I have an SR5 Tundra and the molding has little notces where you can fit a tool and lift it out without damaging it. I even asked the tech on the first replacement windshield if I needed new molding and he told me that unless it's really old and brittle they can be reused for a long time bruh.

Wow, that is some serious bad luck. I live in a rural area 7 miles from the nearest paved road, so I know all about the rock flinging you described. I generally give cars in front of me plenty of space, and I slow down and pull to the side of the road when I see a large truck coming in the opposite direction.

I just can't imagine 4 trashed windshields in just 7K miles. I generally keep my trucks for 7-8 years and 140K miles, and I have averaged 1 replacement windshield per truck. I will live with small chips until they grow to larger cracks, though.

Sounds like a structural issue with the windshield frame. Something is phuked up.

I have wondered that myself. Someone else on here was experiencing the same.
