Does it really tell you to take a break? I haven't done any road tripping yet.

You've taken me waaaay too seriously, brother.

Despite its warts, I still like my truck. I'm just not in love with it.

But let's be honest. For some guys their truck is a part of their identity, or an extension of their johnson. I was like that too...30-40 years ago. Now, my truck is just a tool to get me from point A to B. Hopefully I'll get 140K relatively trouble-free miles out of it and I'll trade it in for another tool.

Yes, it beeps and flashes a coffee cup with "Do you want to take a break?" message. You can disable it in the settings, though.

I like that I can now get a full cab and a full bed (6.5ft bed) at the same time on a Tundra.

I like that I've customized it to make it my own. And it's nice that aftermarket companies give a damn in making cool stuff for your truck.

I just traded a 2016 SR5 with 210K mi in for a '25 Limited. I'm still in the honeymoon phase. Can I name all the things I like about it?

    It's not filthy, lol
It's not trying to kill me
I don't have to grimace when backing into a parking spot wondering if this is when I break another lower ball joint
The steering wheel doesn't have 24° of play
It has more power and is wayyy faster
    It has better gas mileage
It has heated and AC'd seats
It's seats are way more comfortable
    It's NAV is 300% better
    It's headlights are actually effective
The auto climate control is awesome
Roll down back window feels like a luxury item
    Bed camera is really cool

    Things I don't like(I know, I know)
No mute button on the steering wheel
Screen doesn't have a combo menu, it's either radio, NAV, or settings, no mix
The truck hijacks my phone if I have the BT on, even when I turn it off, it invasively will turn the phone BT back on and I can't navigate out of Android Auto to get to the truck's organic menus.
Motorized tailgate. That has to be an epically bad idea in many ways.

Hold the "Mode" button down until it mutes--takes about 3-5 seconds. Do the same to unmute. (Mode button is on right side of steering wheel controls, beneath the Cruise button.)

You can push in the volume knob on the steering wheel and it mutes!
Screen will multi-panel if you use Android Auto (maybe Apple Carplay too, but I dont have it)
    Never had the BT issue
No power tailgate here. I dont know how much I would use it, but kinda nice to have until it doesnt work[/QUOTE]

Volume knob? Do you mean + - buttons?

I've never really used Android Auto before. I'm finding I don't really like it. The screen mimics your cell phone but the apps that it displays are neutered (through the car)to the point where I wonder why they appear in AA mode. I might listen to an audio book, a podcast, or some music but that's it. I don't need an immersive and constant relationship while driving with my phone to do that. I don't like messing with my phone(or it's menu)while I'm driving. Really I don't like constantly using my phone every 5 seconds throughout the day and I don't appreciate the battery drain. I think it's one thing to use the Internet at points in the morning or evening. Listen to music on headphones at the gym. Coordinate with colleagues via messages. Make dinner plans with the wife. But to constantly have the device in your hand and interacting with it wears on me. The NAV on these Tundras don't seem to lack anything that I should be using Google Maps as I'm driving. I can check for traffic at the beginning of the trip and it remains pretty accurate along the way in the area that I live. I just wish there was a less committal way to use some apps, sometimes. It's natural that app developers take a all-in approach.

    You can do split screen.

First hit the 8 small squares in the lower left of the screen.

    IMG_2516.jpg

    Then hit this symbol

That's in car play mode. I am saying you can't do split screen in the truck's organic system.

Unless someone wants to school me. Very happy to be proven wrong!

    Oh, my mistake.

I refuse to pay for Toyota's navigation, or any of the subscription services, so I'm always on CarPlay.

I think just about everything's been covered... this is my first truck, and I like not having to ask the neighbor to borrow his for large purchases, trips to the landfill, or renting equipment.

Sure there are negative posts on this site but the amount of information, ideas, suggestions, etc. for anything you can think of far outweighs in my opinion.

IMO, Google Maps is superior to Toyota's navigation, especially in satellite mode, so I never activated any of the connected services, even for the free trial. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything useful.

OnX Maps is great too. Looks great on the big screen in the truck vs on the phone trying to figure out where you are

I love the truck. There are some things I would change.
    - The wind noise
    - The engine shuts off and restarts when I shift to park
    - The ongoing threat of main bearing failure
    - The default screen on startup is dumb Toyota maps which will turn into a lame purple screen when my subscription runs out

I don't think any vehicle is perfect.

Remote start should work from the fob once you activate remote connect.

Agreed. The only thing I dislike about OnX is a lot of its functionality is disabled thru CarPlay.

My remote start with the FOB has always worked without activating Remote Connect.

Edit: I was mistaken above. I just tried remote start with my FOB and now suddenly it doesn't work. My research shows that Toyota's last software update deactivates the FOB remote start, if you don't agree to their data consent nonsense. Screw them, I can live without it. What's next? Will we have to pay for a subscription to turn the damn radio on?

    Hey Matt2015tundra
How did you eliminate the "search" in Google maps?
    Maybe it's an Android thing.

Must be Android Auto. I get the search bar when I tap on the screen, then it goes away in a few seconds if I don't search for anything.

Thanks Matt it's an Android thing I guess thumbed through all of the settings and couldn't find anything.
    All good.
