    Hey all!
I have been hearing a strange squeaking sound that's coming from the engine bay and can be heard through the passenger side footwell. The sound can be heard when the engine is running but is not related to the engine as it begins squeaking as soon as I turn the key to the ACC or battery on position. Please let me know if you guys have ever heard this noise before. Linked below is a video when the truck in turned to the ACC position and the engine is not running.

Turn the HVAC fan off while it's actively squeaking. Does it stop?

If it does, pop out the blower motor and look for debris. Our trucks have no cabin filter and often get crap stuck in there. Or it could be the bearing is going bad, or someone swapped in a cheapie motor.

upload_2025-3-3_9-55-45.pngIt's your blower motor. See the knob on the left? Turn it off. Bet it stops.

Just listened with headphones. Sounds almost like the stem of a leaf is dragging against the wall of the squirrel cage or housing.

If you slow it down to half speed and really tweak the 5k on the audio file I could almost swear it’s a Quercus virginianus leaf.

I had one tiny little dried out leaf in there hard to believe that little thing could make such a racket. I assumed it was the motor because it only did it on the highest and next to highest speeds

@shifty` Definitely blower motor or something with the HVAC system. The noise cuts out when climate control is turned off so thanks for the tip. I took the blower motor out and it was very clean so I will do a deeper dive when I have the time. I will update with pictures if I find anything.

One thing I have noticed when taking the blower motor out to clean. you want to 'look up' and clean out anything above it. Otherwise, you think you cleaned it out, slot it back in there, something dislodges, then you start it up and still hear something.
Happened to 'a friend of mine'. :). Obviously I would be smart enough to look up before putting it back.
