Hola to all. New member here with some questions, I'll try to make this as short as possible. I have two trucks, 07 double cab with a 5.7 and a bad frame that we just patched up and an 11 4.6 sr with a good frame. I am going to be selling the 5.7 but curious everyone's thought on robbing some stuff before I do. Quick side note, the 4.6 is in better shape and was my dads who is pretty much at the end of his battle with ALS. It's very cool to have to his truck and would like to keep it a very long time. I wish I could go back in time and tell him not to buy an sr 4.6.

I am seriously considering swapping motor\trans between the both. I know most people will say it's not worth it, just buy a 5.7, well I want to keep my dad's truck and it would be badass with the 5.7. Has anyone completed this swap? Feedback?

The 4.6 is column shift/ bench seat and the 5.7 is console shift. Based off what I'm reading it's quite a bit of work to do this swap. I have everything I need tho between the two trucks. Feedback?

I'm quite mechanical and have completed old Volkswagen swaps and just recently swapped a 2zz into what was my dads mr2 spyder.

Doable. Probably need to swap engine and trans components, computers and possibly harness. Same engine family (UR) at least. Big project. Whether or not it’s worth it is up to you. On paper it’s the perfect project as you already have the two complete vehicles. Question is, do you motor swap the 4.6 chassis? Or chassis swap the 5.7? My gut says the motor swap makes the most sense into the 4.6 chassis. 5.7 one likely has extensive corrosion on lots of bits other than just the frame.

Not crazy! With the right tools, some beers, brisket, and two friends this job could conceivably be completed in 2-4 days. I too would want to keep my dad's truck and wouldn't mind having a new solid frame under it.
