Twice a year I have to drive from Central Texas to my attorney's in Mesa Arizona. I was going through some old pics from my trip back in late 2022 and this was the mpg I got. If you have ever driven on I-10 you know it is super flat.

I was averaging 19.7 mpg for the trip and at the time of the picture was getting 18 mpg. This is the best I have ever gotten for a total average.

Typically, I get 15 to 15.5 city and 17 highway here in Central Texas.

    How about you?

Best is 19, average around 14.5, last tank average was 12 because I was driving like a savage.

I got An honest 18 on the way home from the dealer after I purchased a few weeks ago. Mostly highway. I am a notorious grandma with the foot and always get more on hwy than listed.

Best I can do is 19. I’ve done it a couple times on the hilly interstates of middle Tennessee. That’s staying under 65 and letting it slow down on hills, doing everything possible to stay in TC lockup.

I also absolutely hate driving that way…

Just realize that whatever your tank average is in a 5.7 Tundra, driving the same way (with the same mods) in a boosted v6 truck like a 3rd gen Tundra or a Ford Ecotoot will net you about 3mpg extra for your tank average. Not worth caring about IMO.

13.2 is the best I’ve ever gotten on I10 between Austin and Houston. Running 70mph.

My best was 18.5 and that was on a road trip with mostly flat highway. I live in an area that has moderate hills/mountains with a crap ton of traffic and I typically average 17…that impresses me.

Of course I wish it got better BUT, big but here, it’s a 5.7 liter V8 brick that practically weighs 6k. For what it is, it’s pretty damn good.

And on a side note, it’s been very accurate to the sticker for MPG’s for 25k miles.

About 23.6 MPG driving slowly on a warm day. It was low 80s, so wind resistance was minimal, yet not hot enough for engine to self-detune. Mostly flat gravel roads, canoe loaded up the truck, heavy center of gravity, with the rear sway bar remove it was not very stable, so I drove slowly, like 45 MPH. It stayed in 6th gear TC locked, engine revs around 1200. Did 708 miles between gas stations. Empty tank light didn't event come up yet. Never seen this number again :)

Wife regularly sees high 21 MPG in her V8 Sequoia when she drives on a highway in summer. When I drive it I get worse numbers, but my feeling is Gen 2 is less peppy than 2.5? Something about ECU tuning.

I think the only time I have gotten over 17 is when I was towing the camper and basically coasting downhill out of the mountains. Otherwise I am lucky if I crack 13.

If I use neutral and idle down the mountain I can get it over 20 between Phoenix and Flagstaff. Im pretty sure I used up all my fortitude on that trip and will never have the nuts to do it again though

Whatever this forum told me to do
    Houston area.

    2020 1794 4x4

    Harrop S/C. 77.5mm pulley

I travel to and from work at low traffic times.

My tank avg is always ~17mpg*

I routinely get 20mpg on hwy treks.

I drive ~62mph. cruise control 90% of the time.

    Stock tires & suspension.

    Pulling a trailer? forgetaboutit.

hit the pedal too hard? donteventhinkaboutit.

*I use scanguage 3 to get mileage. I run 650cc injectors w/tune. the SG3 is awesome and very accurate.

Pointless thread for comparison as there are too many variables.....weather, altitude, lifts, tires, weights, etc.

A very very loaded question. Too many variables to account for.
Personally, in my 2015 this is the best single tank I’ve ever gotten. This was when the truck was stock minus a S&B intake. Stock tires and suspension. I was on my way to Texas for a hog hunting trip, following a friend in a ‘95 Suburban towing a small trailer full of coolers. Best that truck would do was 60 with a tailwind so my truck didn’t have to work at all. After this fuel stop I took the lead to let him draft me basically, which killed my mileage but helped him a ton. My truck now averages 13-14 with modifications listed in my bio.

Also, mine is calculated mileage. The reported MPG in your center display is always off. As a tech we used to call it the lie-o-meter. From my personal experience, the factory MPG is always optimistic, while my Scangauge has always been a bit pessimistic. I usually assume that the truck average is right about in the middle of the two.

It showed me where I'm at with a ridiculously heavy truck. I feel better about my loaded 14mpg knowing that some folks are getting that unloaded. Makes me think my engine is still pretty healthy

Almost 10k gallons puts it into perspective. After a couple years I could've bought a new Camry with what I've spent on fuel. LOL

With your tank completely full, it is going to show a high number like that, if it is a tank average, and you hit the highway.

19ish maybe before the 285/70's went on it.

Now it's 13-17, kind of like advertised. Tank average torpedos in the winter with idle/warm-up, winter blend, and near constant 4wd, but whatever. I don't care that much.

I've officially surpassed what I paid for the truck originally in fuel unfortunately lol. I paid $28,500 for the truck in 2018.
