Looking to get into a Tundra, but cost is a factor. I noticed the FFV are less desireable, but not sure how much that should scare one away.
For example. Looking at a 2018 SR5 Crewmax 4x4 with 45,000 miles. One owner. $29,500.
    Deal or no deal?

I’d do it. I’ve got 221,300 on my ‘15 flexfuel. The reason people don’t like them is because of the alcohol density stability issue. The computer gets the alcohol percentage wrong since it calculates it instead of actually having a sensor. Once the computer gets the percentage much above 50% it has trouble starting in cold weather. There was a service bulletin for reflashing and replacing the fuel pump, which I had done but it’s not very effective. The best way to keep the percentage from going crazy is to limit hard acceleration for the first 7-10 miles after refueling. That’s when the ECU does its calculations off of various sensors to determine the alcohol density. When it does get out of hand on my truck, I just bought a cheap Amazon scanner and watch the density percentage on my Scangauge III and I perform the reset.

That’s about what I paid for mine with that mileage and year when I bought it 3 years ago. Currently at 76k miles and counting.

My 2010 flex fuel has 270k on it.

There is a potential for the system to get out of wack thinking the ethanol level is higher than it actually is. It would require the right scanner hooked up to reset it. It's not that big of a deal.

I have a 2011 and 2013 5.7 both flex fuel. Combined they have 845,000 miles. No issues with either, both on original motor and transmission. Will buy another one if either is these die, if that ever happens. Hope that helps

2017 trd pro with 130K here and has been SOLID. No pump issues in South Louisiana. Always heard Flexlfuels have larger possibly better injectors. I also had a 2011 rock warrior flex fuel as well years prior and no issues with it. I use to be hesitant but not anymore.

2014 FFV and now 2017 FFV, 122k on the current truck. Reset the fuel density twice, has been over 6 months to a year and I am still sitting at zero % after the last reset. Experienced the extended crank and poor acceleration which is how I identified the problem before using a scan tool to read the percentage. Reset to zero using techstream.

Just rolled 140k on my trd pro. No fuel related issues though I've never used flex fuel it. Have had other issues(timing chain tensioner, coolant valley plate leak)which can be seen on the car care nut YouTube video. Even with that repair bill, still have no regrets about buying this truck and I'm gonna drive it til it dies.

Can you remove the FFV alcohol check with an OTT tune? Make it a regular gas only.

18 with 105k, no issues other than having to reset the alcohol density thing every now and then. I usually get the itch to upgrade but the issues on the new ones make me too nervous. I’m keeping mine for at least another 100.
