I thought their brakes rarely failed? Usually without power, they’re locked up and only when you step on the gas, an air compressor unlocks them.

    Another cement truck.

You never want to see a head on with two semi-tractor trailers. All the weight behind them completely crushes the cab. 0% survivability.

Yeah on the phone small res it looks pretty convincing... amazing how far that tech has come. Some of that might be pretty accurate as far as what they program in for the structure of the cars. But the truck must be programed to be solid, at least I never saw Any damage to it.
    I'll look up BeamNG.....

The game is pretty cool for just driving around and wrecking vehicles. I played it a few years ago and it's a good time waster.

I just assumed the whole cement truck thing was AI-generated. Didn't realize it was a game. I also don't usually gravitate toward sim-style games though.

It’s a lot better now. Much improved graphics, easier to run, many more cars with unbelievable amounts of customization. Even better crash physics.

BeamNG is super super cool game. I think I’ve spent nearly 2000 hours playing it.

I don’t know how they can achieve such realistic crash physics and not require an immense amount of computing power. The suspension, tire grip, and terrain physics are also extremely realistic.

The vehicles also have a crazy amount of customization- you can change parts as small as brake pads, engine mounts, and trim level badging, which all effect the driving characteristics in a realistic manner. Many cars have optional non-tachometer gauge clusters. Of course, larger items such as transmissions, leaf springs, or bumpers can be switched out for counterparts.

It’s really neat. I downloaded a Toyota engines/transmissions mod which allowed me to put a 2UZ and A340 in the pickup trucks. The injector upgrade for the 2UZ adds 10hp though, not sure how accurate that is…

I'd like to still play it, but my gaming laptops motherboard fried up a while back. I didn't want to put money into another one or a PC, so I just rock a PS5 for now.

I still have the laptop and check regularly motherboard pricing in case they start to drop in cost.

I might end up getting a vtwin for the golf cart. Drive clutches are slim pickins. Easier to find stuff for 1” crankshafts & 1-1/4” belts. Electric start, too.

    IMG_0340.jpg
So im gonna need to build a 4x4 2-seat buggy using pajero stuff. I think 9ish hp & 6krpm can run a slushbox.

i did find a hand clutch though.

Just usually not my bag. Before the era of "e-Gaming" / pro gaming, as MUD-based gaming was dying, I used to play competitively in 1st person shooter PvP stuff. Prior to PvP, lots of role-play type games, DnD, Sierra's stuff, etc.

I still do occasionally connect again with the guys I used to play with 15, 20, 25 years ago online, it'll start with an email and we'll connect in Steam or Teamspeak or Discord and play FPSes online together.

I've sunk a hell of a lot of hours in on BG3 these last couple of years. I don't normally do RPG, but it's a freaking awesome game once you sink into it.

Were you running AMD or Intel? Got the model# of yours?

I made the kids help me build them each a PC about 3-4 years ago. Both towers are still hanging around the house. We never had a place to set them up, couldn't trust them with the systems in their room.

I'm not sure off the top of my head on the exact model, but it's a MSI gaming laptop. I think its a GF model and uses intel. I'll grab the info off of it when I get home from work.

This one has the same design as the one that I own, but the specs could be different.

I've drawn away from FPS games mostly and just prefer a good story game or coop game now.....BUT Arma Reforger has sucked me in. Mil-sim cold war era game. Its pretty intense.

Not sure… probably fine? My setup is pretty shitty and I can still get 75+ FPS if I don’t mind the fans screaming.

Should be able to look up the recommended specs.

Ah! Laptop. Got it. Damn, yeah, can't help. :(

So, we have consoles in the house, mostly for the kids and nostalgia but I can't stand playing FPS without a mouse. Certain exceptions for classics like 007, but generally speaking, CoD and similar variations, not my jam.

No worries my man. I appreciate you even offering to help.

I get it for sure. I suck at mouse and keyboard. I've used a controller for so long that it's just comfortable to me now.

I think i need a full time pc setup to run fulltime cameras. Was thinking just front/rear, but i think i also need an interior camera for commentary.

    Honestly?

Go get a newer QNAP NAS. Something that'll hold at least 2 disks. Slap it on the network and throw a couple IP cameras on, then use the QVR app in it to record stuff.

Alternately if you've ever wanted to update your network, get a couple of Unifi G3 cameras, and a UDM Pro or similar Unifi Dream Machine with any of their wireless AP's. Update your network, and use their built-in NVR feature to record footage.

I’ve got a Reolink setup. Not bad for two high res night mode color PoE cameras and an NVR under $400. Only downside is my video gets uploaded to the Communist motherland at 2am.

NVR at $180 on sale is optional as the cameras each hold 256GB data which is 4 days worth before they roll over and erase.

Got the tailgate job done yesterday. First, it is amazing just how small the actuator rods are. Second, it is just as amazing to see how small those plastic clips are, especially compared to the Gen2s. But everything was intact, straight and very, very dry. Getting my hands on the clips at the far ends was a royal pain. I ended up just breaking off the arms and pulling out the bases.

I took @shifty` s advice and disconnected the rods to see if the lock was any smoother. Nope, the lock mechanism was the issue. So, I also pulled the tailgate handle. I removed the lock cylinder from the handle by removing the retaining spring clip. I used carb cleaner on the lock cylinder, but washed the rest of the handle assembly in warm water with Dawn. I set them both in the sun to dry while I finished as much of the rest of the job as possible.
The lock cylinder got WD40 PTFE spray before reassembly into the handle My in-lbf torque wrench only goes down to 50 in-lbf, so that's what the handle bolts got instead of the FSM spec of 49. (Yes, it hurt me to do that.) Once the new clips were installed, all the things got WD40 lithium spray grease. The lock still feels a little gritty, but the resistance is completely gone. The handle operates as smooth as butter and I should be good to go for another 20 years. Shifty said to include a celebratory beer, but after the extra work I felt BBQ nachos should be added.
