Need help please! Have a 2011 Tundra.

Going to try to give the whole story here, but my issue is that the traction control is engaging when I make turns, cutting power to the engine, with no response from the gas pedal returning until I straighten out the vehicle. Sometimes I can feel the ABS kicking in braking one of the wheels, which really only happens when I’m making turns at very low speeds.

I can’t remember which event occurred first, but last spring I got new wheels and tires. Nothing crazy, and the tires are closer to OEM sizing than the K02s I had on it previously. Also, at some point around then, I believe prior, my rear wheel speed sensor harness got damaged. When that happened, I had 4hi 4lo ABS skid control all lighting up the dash. I spliced the wire and the problem went away.

About a month ago, those same lights starting going off on the dash again. I checked my splice, and decided to just buy a new harness. Not gonna lie, was a cheap one on Amazon. After installing the new harness, all of the lights on the dash went away with no issues. Just after that I started losing traction control while going through turns. I double checked my connections on the harness, but all looked good. After researching online I thought it could be a bad wheel speed sensor, so I swapped all 4. Amazon again. After that did not fix the issue I took it to Toyota and they wanted $2000 to replace the wheel speed sensors again. Said no, and ordered new ones again on Amazon. Swapped out again and problem still exists. After that, I took to a local shop who couldn’t fix the issue, but referenced a lot of forums with similar issues, and recommended I get an alignment first. Got the alignment and still there. Last option from local shop was to take to an off-road shop to see if they had a solution as sometimes this issue occurs when lifting your truck. Haven’t done that yet.

I’ve tried several zero point calibrations, found a forum post for taping washers to the backside of the yaw sensor to trick it, inspected the ABS module, and still nothing. Does anybody have any ideas for me??!!

FYI, I have ordered another set of wheel speed sensors and another rear harness, this time OEM parts through a 3rd party.

Sounds like a problem with wheel speed. First guess is the harness you put in. Connect a code reader and go to live data and view all four wheel speeds then drive around. If all four are not the same, will need to dig in and find out why.

Do you have a recommendation for a good code reader? I have a Innova one but I don’t think it gives me live data.

Look again. I have a $15 no name from Amazon for my son and it has live data.

If that harness doesn’t have correctly twisted conductors it may well be picking up inductive interference and causing your issues. But I’d trust those chinesium sensors just as much. If you still have the original sensors I’d suggest reinstalling them with a new OEM rear harness.
