2021 Tundra V8 engine noise question

I am at 32K and I have noticed my engine using the 0/20 oil has gotten noisy as in busy, not tapping lately. Not bad but seems like timing chain(s) or other subtle noises. Is this common?

 

Use 5w30. Been running 5w30 in mine for 70k miles.

 

They are very noisey engines. I noticed it on my test drive of my truck with 7 miles. Still makes the same racket loud after 81,000 miles. That's why the smaller v8 i think 4.6 or 4.7 with timing belt is so quiet it doesn't have a big loud timing chain like the 5.7.

Even with 5w 30 it's still one of the loudest V8 ever made. I've tried 5w 30 it just rattles like 10% louder on cold start up and sounds the same or maybe 2% less noise when warm.

You have the 2UZ correct? Assuming you want to switch to 5w-30 in your 2005 Tundra listed in your profile? In that case isn't that motor spec'd for specifically 5w-30?

 

It's weird if someone says 5w 30 makes less noise nobody says anything.. But if someone says 0w 20 makes their motor tick less people call BS. That makes me want to not belive them.

 

Your 2UZ wants 5w30 anyway. Are you running 0w20 in it?

 

Thinner engine oil isn’t going to quiet your engine down compared to thicker engine oil. 5w30 is thicker
