I have a 2019 Tundra which I bought new and have put about 150k miles so far. The truck has been flawless and I love it. I plan to keep it for the rest of my life. Its paid off, and it is a member of the family. As much as I love the truck, the suspension feels like crap. I did a few suspension upgrades a few years ago: 2" lift with bilstein shocks (i think they are 5160's), upper control arms, body mount chop to run 35" tires without rubbing. I have never really happy with the suspension, it feels stiff, it rolls like a boat, creaks and squeaks, and just does not eat up moderately bumpy roads or wash boards like I would like. I dont "wheel" my truck as a hobby, but I do spend a decent amount of time on moderately bumpy forest service roads, and spend a fair amount of time in Baja on washboard roads to access cool surf spots. So here is my question: Say you had $8-10k burning a hole in your pocket from the sale of another vehicle, to invest into your 2019 Tundra. What suspension upgrades or others would you do to make it bomber for the type of conditions I listed above? Again, I really am not into 4wheeling as a hobby. This truck is my daily driver so it is on the highway the vast majority of the time but I do like to access places regularly that are moderately rough and I would like to do that without feeling like I have to drive 10 mph. Thanks! Just looking for some advice and recommendations. cheers

We have similar use cases, FSR's is my main one to get to camping spots and trailheads to go backpacking.

I'm on Bilstein 6112/5160's with Toytec shackles in the rear. Also have 35's (35x12.50r17), Toyo OC AT3's in C-load rating (important in a minute) and very much enjoy the ride both on and off-road. While I'm not out west and get to enjoy the vast expanse and open trails, it fits my use case quite well.

So I'd ask first, what tires are you running, and what load rating? On my '12 prior to this truck I had e-load tires and it rode like crap (was on Bilstein 5100's all around). I can't say for sure if it was the tires, or the 6112's, but I did a lift before 35's on this '21 and the difference in ride was night and day.

So in your case, what air pressure do you run in your tires, and what load rating? If your PSI is fairly high, try tinkering with that first to see what difference it makes. I run about 33 PSI in all 4 corners. If that doesn't get you closer to where you want to be, I have a follow up question, what size rims? I would think 35's on say 20" rims with less sidewall would be stiffer than what I'm on, 17's.

Just my thoughts here, but I think you can dial it in for your use case for a lot less than $8-10k.

Can you share some pics of what you're currently working with in regard to suspension? Some pics of the front shocks/UCAs as well as the rear shocks and leaf pack. It'll help us determine what currently "isn't" working, and give us an opportunity to work on something that will. You won't need nearly $8k, unless you really want to go buckwild.

This is what I would do with the $8k. Except the send a second set out part. I would use those funds to go to Mexico all inclusive for a week with the Mrs.

I completely agree. Very similar use case here as well. My setup with 35x12.5-18 Toyo AT3 Load Range D is -

Front: 6112, one shim on the driver's side, with JBA UCAs and Coachbuilder bumper shims
    Rear: 5160, +3 Coachbuilder shackles

My wife drives the truck 25% of the time and she has complemented the ride more than once. We have to utilize some washed out sandy roads on weekends and it is totally compliant, never harsh.

I should add, this is all because of how OP started off the post. Paid off, out of warranty, and there's no truck on the market that interests me more right now. Nevermind paying $70k or more for one. I refreshed the suspension and am going to keep enjoying it.

I installed the eibach setup and very happy with it. Not much off road for me. Wanted something that is firm enough to handle some of that but still relatively compliant on the road. Feel i got just that. No diving in corners, it can handle rougher stuff but still a non harsh street ride. There was still some harshness from the E rated tires. Installed defenders last week and made a nice difference. It is not floaty like the stock setup and not harsh like some of the more aggressive OR stuff.
