Neighbor had an S10 Blazer that would randomly trip its alarm like that at 1:30-4:30am for some reason. It was parked in his driveway, 5ft from the side of my house. My head was 3ft on the other side of that wall... in my bed. They are/were alcoholic drug addicts and would never wake up to silence it.... I think the run time was at least 5 minutes. One night I got dressed and went over to plead for my fucking sleep and got chest bumped off the property... I knew better than to respond (on his private property), and he was white girl wasted.
This is just one reason I'm am GTFO and away from people here soon.

You have seen the entire thread with different grille options for our trucks, right? There’s a whole thread dedicated to nothing but grille options.

While driving makes no sense.

@FGV, if it happens after exiting, I’d be looking closely at the lights in the cab and see if they’re on (some, courtesy etc.) and if so, the door plunger/switch is potentially going out or needs its contacts cleaned, and making the truck think the door is being opened while the alarm is armed.

@Sir5, the RS3000 programming thread will show you where the ECU is. if I recall, it’s behind a tube up in the dash and either wrapped in electrical tape or next to some white box wrapped in electrical tape. FGV has posted a pic of his once or twice too.

 

I'm not a fan of the raptor lights, but I really do like that TEQ grille style. I plan on picking it up sometime after I'm done with all these damned maintenance items.

 

I am not a fan of big wheels with skinny tires. It looks weird, especially on our older trucks.

 

Did you read what he said? Sounds like the truck is a total loss. Likely because of his ridiculous mods.

 

Wth is that aluminum looking band? Looks like just that front susp drop is bent... I mean they go through way worse dropping a LBJ and miost frames don't get bent, do they?

Yeah, I did. And most shops don't even want to touch it because of all of those mods. It's all liability.

I'm different, and like raptor lights and all, but ide have to draw the line on those things.

 

I visited several well reviewed body shops after my front end wreck, none of them worked on anything more than 7-10 years old.

Manufacturers are shooting themselves in the foot with these throwaway 50-80k cars. When it catches up to them I hope they don't get yet another bailout. Let em' die.

 

Yes, that me! I have eveything ( lth, O2 extendors, vibrant 2.5" exhaust kit, x-pipe, v bands...just need to get resonators ( straight pipes dont fly in Maryland) and drop it off. I really wish my stock mani's would start leaking lol. Im also slacking on a whole host of front end parts...but in typical toyota fashion, truck continues to run great. Unusually cold winter and other projects stuck in only garage...hard to get motivated when its 11* outside and no garage. The only guy I know who can actually crack the 2002 ECU is not available to May anyway ( Military). He tunes all the 1uz , 2jz guys in tri-state area. Agreed that price is too steep. You can have custom made for that price..fyi. I plan to step/taper mine down to 2.5" collector so afr sensor voltage is easier to regulate at part throttle. U know the boyles law thing.

We have stopped at 2013 and lower year models now only because they will 90% of the time be a total loss through an insurance claim. Shops don't make money on total losses except for storage charges and all that. There aren't really many benefits to it.

If it's a customer pay repair, then I will have the customer stop by to see what the damages are and if there are any mods. Sometimes we can work on the older vehicles, but we come into issues with parts availability and even the time that it takes to get parts. Shops don't like to order A/M mod parts because of liability and because they don't have accounts with them to order parts through. Unless the shop has a CC that they can use to order the part(s) and get reimbursed, but they generally like to go the purchase order route for corporate financial tracking. All big wig red tape stuff.

Hell, a large majority of the newer cars are becoming total losses just because of how many options/sensors/prices of parts now anyways. A front end impact on a 2015 Camry that would cost $5,000 would cost over $10,000 on a 2025 Camry.

 

Don't even get me started on the absolute swindling that is the insurance industry.

Insurance is a load of shit. We argue every single day just to get things repaired the way Toyota says it has to be repaired. The adjusters are trained on their company policy, not how to actually repair vehicles. A vast majority of them have never even stepped foot in a bodyshop before getting hired on at "X" insurance company, yet they are able to dictate how shops repair vehicles.

My 02 LS430 is making a weird noise. Pretty sure it’s driveshaft or CV axle related.

Only happens when decelerating or engine braking, sounds like it’s coming from the rear, stops when breaking. Not much vibration, but you can feel it if you really pay attention.

I had my mechanic look at it quick and he couldn’t pin it down. Suggested replacing the CV axle. New aftermarket ones are $150. Used OEM is the same. New OEM is $1000.

I’m a bit skeptical of it being a CV axle, I don’t know. Kinda getting driveshaft vibes. Thoughts?

 

I deal with this BS on a daily basis. There is however zero point arguing with the adjuster because 90% of the time they're using 3rd party inspectors who aren't calling the shots. If they are calling the shots then a supervisor is usually overriding it. 100% of our claims with Snake Farm go straight to appraisal and homeowners are well aware going into it. Allstate used to be pretty bad, but they've lightened up. All of these carriers are doing jicky shit. My P&C insurance license is still active so I get to see both sides of this thing. DFW has one of the worst if not the worst insurance market in the state. Standard 2% and 3% deductible and Actual Cash Value roof replacement policies without the option to buy into replacement cost or 1% is the new norm. On top of that imagine getting denied on a roof claim that was 100% justifiable. 10k-12k deductible plus no depreciation to recover means you're paying your insurance to self insure your roof. It's the Wild West.

 

Could be CV joint, but would have to be missing a ball or roller from the cage or something dramatic to make that kind of noise I would think. Could also be one of the bushings in the suspension reacting to a slight out of balance in the rotating assembly. Could be worn shock also, or loose components back there.

sigh….anytime anyone mentions first aid training it reminds me of the time YEARS ago back around 1994 when i took a first aid class at the community college i was going to. I was about 18~19 years old at the time. It was CPR training in the classroom that day. I was a shy quiet kid that didn’t know anybody. The teacher instructed all of us to team up with one other person in the class to simulate chest compressions and mouth to mouth. Everyone paired up together really quickly…except for me and some super hottie hot chick. Like i looked all around the classroom trying to figure out just what happened. She wore a very short skirt and a way too tight of a top. I had to emulate chest compressions and mouth to mouth on her. It was a little bit awkward, but i couldn’t afford to fail the class (wink, wink). A couple days later i saw her driving away from the student parking lot in an immaculate dark green IROC Z-28. I blinked a couple times before my brain could take it all in. After thinking about it some, i figured that she probably had a second “job” to pay for her college. Luckily, that’s as far as that story went. Like i said, sigh…

 

When I did first aid/cpr training it was for lifeguarding for the city, so most of the attendees were future guards, and most of them we baddies, but sadly we had mannequins, sigh…..

I'm with you, or again the rate/frequency to me sounds like drive line, U-joint/needle bearing/carrier bearing. That's pretty effin loud, shit!
