Hello everyone. I have a problem that maybe someone can help me with. I have a 2013 Crewmax 4x4 that has a very slight shudder around 17 mph since the day I had it lifted. It has a 6" Procomp lift. After talking with Coachbuilder I realized that the carrier bearing spacer that was installed with the lift was too short. So I purchased the correct size according to Coachbuilder for my particular lift. The install should be easy but as I was removing one of the bolts for the carrier bearing I heard a snap sound (which is never a good sound) and the welded nut was now rotating. I broke the welds on this particular nut trying to loosen the bolt. The bolt will not come out of the nut. It is cross threaded. So now I have to cut the bolt to be able to remove it. The other bolt for the carrier bearing came out with no problems. My question is will it matter if I put a new nut that is not welded be a problem or does the nut have to be welded? I was going to use a metal lock nut for the new nut and a sawzall to cut the old bolt to remove it. Thanks for the help.

Oh, I was also thinking can I remove the bolt with a cordless impact tool while holding the nut with a wrench instead of cutting the bolt? Thanks again.

You’re referring to one of the two bolts holding the carrier bearing to the crossmember, correct? If so, your plan is solid, exactly what I’d recommend.

Edit: yup, try wrench first, if not, cut.

Yes one of the two bolts that is welded to the carrier support frame or crossmember. Thank you for the response.

Just bought a used 2017 tundra same issue.
    Threads stripped on mount.
Does anyone know what bolts and nuts to replace old?
I will remove existing welded nuts.
    Thank you, R-RodIMG_6559.jpg

You sure that is installed correctly? Iirc, the single hole points down and the two holes point up. If you cannot see the arrow pointing forward,it is upside down.
