Is there a setting to avoid stepping on brake to push button start?

Been half assed searching for the setting to get rid of the brake press+push button start.

My '08 Tundra allows my to just reach in and twist the key and it's running.

My '21 Tundra requires me to step on the brake+push the start button for the truck to run.

Remote start thru Toyota has expired and I am researching aftermarket remote starts presently.

    TIA

    Kirk

I had to enable the "Service Connect" 10 year trial service in the Toyota app to activate remote start via FOB. This guy talks about it and someone in the comments section mentioned they had to call Toyota to get the 10 year trial restarted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3Wt8erKaEI

    Good vid. Thanks.

I'm not really wanting my truck to be in contact with the mother ship.

I'm kind of annoyed that Toyota still knows how much gas I have in the tank, when I need an oil change and if I have a check engine light. Yet its fair for them to cut off my remote start. Doesn't seem fair to me.

I'm pulling the fuse on my DCM when it warms up, so it's gonna be a non issue.

I think I'll just install an aftermarket remote start to solve all my issues.

If you just want to start the truck standing outside, reach in and press the brake with your left hand and push start button with your right hand. I do that all the time.

This is exactly what I do, during the cooler mornings before taking my daughter to school. I'm already loading up her backpack so I'm out there already, otherwise I'd just remote start from the key fob.

Bonus points for starting it this way, it doesn't shut off when you open a door.

So were only certain models were the remote start expired? I know there's plenty of threads about remote start not working with half the people commenting how theirs works even without subscription (me included)

I agree with others though, I just lean in and push the pedal barely with my left hand while pushing the start button with my right. I do this personally because I hate the auto shutoff from the doors with remote start.

I can only get the remote start to work half the time with the smart key (lock + lock then hold lock). I plan on ordering the accessorides version that has working take over (no more power off when open door with smart key).

My 2021 you can just turn the key haha, score one for SR5 no upgrade package. So Id recommend downgrading to the peasant spec.

This won't help with your remote start questions, but for others, note that there is a way to start the Tundra with a push button start without depressing the brake pedal.

Push the start button once to go into ACC mode.
Then hold the start button in for about 12 seconds.
    The truck will start.

It's handy if you want to start the truck from the passenger side.

I have a 21 Tundra and my connected services have expired, but you can remote start the truck by pressing the lock button on your key fob 3 times and holding it down on the last press. The lights will blink and it will start up. Still turns off when you open the door which is stupid IMO, but you can at least remote start and let it warm up.

And I just realized this is exactly what the guy in the video is talking about, so nevermind.

Just got done testing this feature.

It functioned as described above. I was not aware this feature was available.

I guess I can accept this. Life is full of compromises.

It may take 12 seconds, but it's a hell of a lot easier than reaching in and pushing the brake with one hand and pressing the starter with the other.

I stick one leg in for the pedal, while standing on the ground, then reach in and push the button. My truck is stock height though.
