I have a 2019 Tundra with a 38 gallon fuel tank. Over the past few years had lots of issues refueling when tank was 1/2 empty. Very slow fueling and gas pump would kick off constantly even at very slow refueling rates. In last year gas now comes shooting out of the filler tube onto the ground. Had charcoal canister replaced twice, once by me and then 2nd by Toyota dealership two weeks ago. Toyota service rep said it had to be charcoal canister based on their computer scan and that somehow the two vent lines were plugged up with dust. After $1100 in service cost I ran the truck to empty, went to gas station and ended up with the exact same issue with refueling. So I assume it is not a charcoal canister problem unless the new one failed after two weeks. Refueling issue is not as bad once the tank is about 2/3 full. Any suggestion or ideas? Truck has 101,000 miles on it.

I'm wondering if it could be the anti-siphon or anti-rollover valve. @250000yota might be able to provide some input.

I'd be concerned with the rollover valve as well. Not on my Tundra, but on my T100 I fought this exact issue for years. I'd have to have the gas nozzle half way out of the filler with it on one of the slower settings to fill the tank. I finally bit the bullet and replaced the rollover valve. The only thing I'm not certain of is whether it's part of the tank itself or not. I still have my 26 gallon tank in the shed, I'll go take a look at it when I get a chance. Might not be today, but I'll look.

Sounds like it’s the flap in the fuel filling hose that’s stuck closed and it is causing the pump to shut off suddenly alongside with slow fueling.

As an update I am on the third charcoal canister and a new ECM and still have the same problem. Whenever Toyota replaces the charcoal canister, they fill up tank and say they have no issues doing so. After I drive it to 1/4 tank full and try to refuel, gasoline comes shooting out the filler tube and onto the ground after 1.5 to 2 gallons of gas pumped at slowest speed. Truck now back a dealership and they are sending codes to Toyota but still have not fixed the issue. Said they dropped the fuel tank this time but have not told me what they found but the truck still in shop so must not be repaired. When I remove gas cap to refuel the entire fuel storage system is under pressure and and the pressure is released when I remove cap. No idea what is causing that but seems to be a side effect of what is going on. This pressure has been present since I have had the issue with refueling and gas spilling out the filler tube. Will update if and when they figure out what the problems are.

Read above and research rollover valve. Try the search function on this forum. Many people have had same issue.
