The smaller the portion the more pricey it is....

It is tempting to go buy the aquarium and deal with the apartment management whenever the issue comes up. Unfortunately, the floor of the apartment itself is not built on a concrete slab but sits over the foundation with a crawl space of dirt underneath. I would have to crawl under it and see what the orientation of the floor joists are.

240 gallons of water alone are 2,000 lbs with the tank, stand, filtration equipment, substrate and aquascape being another 800-900 lbs which would bring the total load on the floor to about 2,900ish lbs. While the weight is spread over 8 feet, if it is all sitting on 1 floor joist it could present a problem.

From an available space perspective, I think at most I can probably fit a 4-5 foot aquarium without having to throw away my couch. For now, I'll get my 13 gallon going and figure out where I want to go from there. I have had the 13 gallon aquarium for 7 years and never actually used it as I prefer larger aquariums and larger fish species.

I miss owning my own home. When I had my own house I had aquariums that ranged from 100 gallons at the smallest to 300 gallons being the largest I ever had. My house in Arizona had a floor that was directly on the concrete slab so I never had any concerns as far as weight causing any problems. My house in California had the aquariums running perpendicular to the floor joists so their weight was spread over multiple floor joists.

An 85" 4k TV and an aquarium scene on a loop will definitely fit in the apartment, will cost less to create and maintain, and won't get you kicked out.

:rofl:It wouldn’t quite scratch the fishkeeping itch. For the 13 gallon I think I’ll go with a planted setup with chili rasboras and blue dream neocardina shrimp.

    Chili’s:

    Blue Dream:

Should look good with bright green plants.

Not fluorescent just vibrant red adult colors. They live in tannic dark waters in the wild so being red helps camouflage them.

They look kinda bland until they reach their adult coloration.

Weird that the same ingredient is included in a margarita and a Golden Oreo.

If you get the tank, I hope you're on the first floor..:eek2:

    Long ago, 1994, I had a water bed in a third-floor apartment.
Management would have been pissed if they knew..

    Why a water bed?
My first divorce I left the house with my waterbed and 19" TV.
Left everything else for the wife and kids..o_O

EDIT: I saw your other post that it was on the first floor...:D

It was close to 930’ish and roads were stupid slick everywhere. I just wanted to get home, and devour M&M’s. People drive way too quick in icy conditions.

Plastic wrap only comes in two sizes relative to the food you're trying to cover:
    1. Slightly too small
    2. Ridiculously oversized

I hate it when I don't get the joke.
I'm equally slow apparently. But my excuses are I haven't been here as long, and don't "live" here. Much. That, and as the token 3G guy in this thread, I hope for tolerance, but expect little.
FNG's and all that. Y'all haven't flamed me terribly yet, so I'm hoping for the best.

So the link takes me to a newb post in the welcome thread where new guy bought a used '22 with 45K miles.
So...that is going to be hitting Marketplace soon?

What am I missing? Or am I way off? :monocle::confused::anonymous:

Yeah, I didn't get it either.
