Changed the oil yesterday and put on the the Fumoto oil drain valve. Have to say, the attention to detail with the RCI skid plates with the filter door and the notch where the oil pan drain valve is very nice!

Holy crap. I was past that the first 8 months

 

Transmission fluid drain and fill. Power steering fluid flush. Look pretty dark at 50k. The power steering fluid on the other hand is not the typical atf color, but more like a gold yellow like the brake fluid. Is that weird? I was expecting it to look like the stuff that came out of the transmission pan. But it’s definitely two different color.

Used a total of 6.5qt of Toyota ATF WS between the transmission with cooler and power steering.

 

I believe Toyota puts this in the power steering loop (the older versions just say Automatic Transmisson Fluid) this is Toyota's version of Dexron III...


... and this is what comes in our transmissions (ATF-WS), which may explain the color differences of the fluids.

 

Yeah, what @Tripleconpanna said. Not sure what your 2021 owners manual calls for, but my 2019 manual reflects the above information. WS doesn't go in the power steering. Good news is that you know how easy it is to flush that system.

 

Well, i hope it’s ok to use ws in there. I assumed that it was ATF it was ok to use in the ps from watching all the how to YouTube videos.

It's completely your call, and I'm sure there's plenty of folks who have done the same thing...

However, with the cost of replacement parts and labor what they are these days in relation to a simple fluid swap (especially on a newer truck), I'd pull the WS out of the PS loop if it were me

now ccn comment got me confused. He said to use any power steering fluid from the store and not aft due to each have their own detergent property for each purposed. Then the manual state to use ATF Dexron 3. The current cost i find for ATF Dexron 3 is bout $20/qt shipped. I live over an hour away from the nearest dealership, can’t just swing in and grab a bottle.
Has anyone use other brand Power Steering fluid instead of Toyota atfdexron 3?

 

There's been some debate on this... I believe the consensus and the spirit of his message was to use ATF WS in your transmission, but do NOT use ATF WS in your PS. ATF WS is NOT the same as ATF/Dexron iii....

So, the bottom line is to use Power Steering Fluid or use ATF Dexron ii or Dexron iii equivelant...

I've used Lucas Oil PS fluid in my 2008 in the past as an option.

In fact, I went back and double checked your first post to verify if you put WS in everything or Dex III in everything; but yes, Dex 3 in the PS should serve you well

 

Quite alright, you just clear it up for me actually. Im going to swing by Wally world and pick up some valvoline maxlife atf and flush it in for the time being. Next round I’ll source some oem atf and switch it out, for peace of mind..

 

Does that intake make any difference?

Probably no HP gains but it should breathe better utilizing a front air dam and the OEM fender location.Sounds and looks good though.....

 

Just finished installing my AMP running boards. Love the look of not having regular running boards hanging from the truck Suspension is next on the list

BBNP was my first big trip in the Tundra! Santa Elena is gorgeous. We did about 90 miles of back country camping over 4 days in the park and came out in Terlingua!

 

I get out there on my scoots from time to time. Great part of Texas.

Installed my new front bumper today. I got the Octane series from Chassis Unlimited and had a local body shop paint the parts to match the truck. My whole build is going for the OEM+ look and I think this fits the bill!

 

Which replacement part# did you order?
