UPDATE: I finally surrendered the truck to dealership 2.5 weeks ago. Honestly never thought it would take that long! Toyota Financial paid off my balance a few days after surrender, but my lawyer didn't get paid for 2 weeks. Now another 2 week wait for a check.

I am really fortunate that I bought in a state (Ca) that is friendly to consumers, the truck had 36k miles ( engine was starting to idle really weird in traffic and MPG was down 20% part of recall but not performed yet)

Toyota kept 850.00 for wear and tear!!! Basically got 3.5k more than i paid. After all the pain, there was a happy ending! Looking at a new truck now that I'm flush LOL!! Anyone have opinions on the 25 ram limited w/ hurricane vs 24 with hemi?

Oh and I asked how long until toyota sells it? Guy said within a few weeks it will be gone 100% I already feel bad for the fella who buys that truck which is out of warranty in 750 miles. :(

I would not go from a first year model (2022 tundra) to another first year model (25 ram hurricane) unless you really want to go through this again.

And I wouldn’t want a Hemi with its known valvetrain issues. Maybe a Hurricane in a few years, that motor is sweet.

Rented a 25 Laramie at enterprise, really a nice truck. Interior is nice, engine is insanely fast. I must be a glutton for punishment... if I buy in Texas who knows, maybe another free ride?

if I was going to Ram it would absolutely be the hurricane though, but I would wait a bit and see how that goes. Im not in the market for a truck at all though at the moment, I like what I have for now.

I work for enterprise in the service center. The stellantis vehicles are the ones we get the most in the shop, next are the GM. And we work on many makes from Toyota, Hyundai/Kia, VW, Ford, BMW, Mazda.

The Hurricane is a nice motor when it works. Powerful. Smooth. We have tons of issues with them tho. Recently we are having constant issues with thermostats sticking. Some are overheating while some are not getting up to temps. I’ve had 2 Jeep Grand Wagoneer myself this week that were in the shop for overheating. My coworker had one that had CEL for thermostat rationality. P0128. Coolant temp wouldn’t go above 180F. All the vehicles are 2024 with less than 30k miles.

They did have misfire issue at cold start but that was fixed with a PCM flash last month. There’s not a day in the shop without a stellantis vehicle for some kind of CEL. Constant TSB and recalls.

Seems like so many new vehicles are a mess. That is why I now live in Colorado and will NEVER buy a car here. CO has the worst lemon law consumer protection of all states. CA has now changed to 18 months or 18k miles which also makes it far less desirable. I'm not worried about issues if I can get taken care of in the end. My toyota was an absolute disaster, my local dealer is currently overloaded with tundras with engine issues. Even a few customers on 2nd engines. While other's have 22s with 100k miles and they are fine. Its a crap shoot, and as long as i know there is a way out I'm good with that crapshoot. It's all about minimizing exposure to financial loss.

the cel fixes are now fixed at factory. Mine did it twice, they were throwing false misfire codes, there were no actual misfires. Two flashes to the computer system and good to go. Other was fixed by an online update they did sumtin to make it shift more smooth. This is a really nice truck, 6 months now and could not be more happy!:) including way better gas mileage.

Didn't you go to a Ram after the 2.5gen Tundra and now back? May have been several years ago though. Just curious if my memory is correct.

No i had a 3rd gen 22. I was looking at a 2.5 when i thought wear and tear was going to be 10k ish. But it took 7 months after accepting offer from toyota and they only took 850. The time it took was outrageous... total time from filing lawsuit to payout to lawyer was 15 months. So I'm now paid out and looking at rolling the dice on another 1st year model. Like I said, I'm good with buying one as long as it's in a state that stands by the consumer!

The ZF still is awesome. Best 8 speed on the market.

i had one of the first one, they were still shipped over from Germany at that point. Ram went from the total worst shit show of transmissions to the best back then

Smartest move they’ve ever made. Some teething when they started building them here, but they are very solid in all of the newer models. Smooth and stout.

I'm still trying to figure how someone paid $84k for a Platinum. What was that a $20k mark up?

Don't understand anyone buying a RAM. It's a Dodge. And even Dodge didn't want to be associated with Dodge, which is why they changed the name. That's all they changed. It's still a piece of shit Dodge!!! Just different name. Horror stories from my buddy who has owned two of them. Stuff you can't make up......

Most people I talk to with a Ram really like it. But man, when they go down, they go down hard. And it seems that you are more likely to get hung out to dry by Ram and/or the dealer, even on warranty stuff. I read a while back they still have the highest rate of buybacks in the segment. Not sure if that includes the HD trucks as well.

There are some ridiculous stories over on the Ram forum.

I have rented quite a few dodges long term for work and all but one of them were terrible. Just ridiculous crap breaking all the time. Like seat belts..... how hard can it be to make a functioning seat belt......

Had a 22, definitely not Toyota quality. Recall after recall. Just not the solid truck I knew Toyota was capable of. Traded for a 2025 of same model and love it. Fit and finish is there, knew it as soon as I drove it. Even my wife noticed it immediately. This is what Toyota should have made in 2022. Sorry your truck was such a lemon but as was said, to each his own.
