The very latest on the '25's, build quality...issues?

So, I'm one of the guys who couldn't wait for the gen 3.
I watched for every rendering, every update. Needless to say I ordered a '22, which was delayed, not a strange thing with Covid.
In the end I bailed on the build when it arrived at the dealer; like others I was really disappointed in the myriad issues that all were dealing with.

So, it begs the question, how are the latest models fairing?
I'm looking to buy a '26 if they get a refresh, but will only do so if they are enjoying that typical Tundra reliability we all expect.
    Thoughts? Experiences? Thanks in advance.

I’ve got a 2025 limited trd off-road iForce max and absolutely no complaints here. No wind noise, no rattles, shoot… it feels like it has better build quality than my 2020 did! Toyota addressed the machining debris issue and is replacing entire engines. I don’t see any other manufacturers stepping up like that at all! These new trucks are night and day difference over the 2nd gen. I can honestly say I don’t miss the V8 at all!

Great to read, thank you for sharing. Have you seen the dealer for anything at all?

I have a 2022 tundra limited and have had no issues at all! Had a couple recalls on the brakes and the fuel tank line thing that was swiftly fixed by the dealer and II wouldn't trade it for anything. Pulls cargo trailer fine and all but drives itself.

I have a 25 1794 TRD OR. no complaints. Milage could be better, last trip was 17.5 (Cali boy here crusing in the 80s with a heavy foot) and the throttle seems a little jumpy from a start some times. i don't know where these 20 mpg reports come from. Towing a 7K lb trailer, the rear was a little low so i installed the 5000 ultimate air bags but have not tried them out yet with the trailer. Great truck, fit and finish way above my 2012 F150

Rough Country wheel liners, mud flaps, TufSkinz gloss black tailgate lettering, JDMCAR console organizer. That’s it.
2025 Platinum 6.5’ bed, with no issues. Right at 2k, and getting ready to double that on a long trip. Will most likely put Nokian LT3’s on when we get back north, many parts of the UP are approaching all-time highs for snow…250” so far where we live. The BStone Dueler’s won’t do.

I’m not happy with the mpg, and that’s coming from a ‘21 Taco TRD Off Road, 6spd manual. I agree with @Third-Reef on that. I’ve seen 20mpg once. Generally around 14-17mpg in city.

Fit-n-finish and quality are top notch currently. The ride is much better and hauling capacity higher. We don’t regret (but do miss) trading in the Taco.

I want to preface my response with the fact that the truck I gave up was a 2016 Silverado 1500 5.3L with 104k miles on it. It was the WT trim in double cab. No frills interior. Had power windows and cruise control and that’s about it. Even the transfer case had the manual on the floor shifter. The truck was mostly stock aside from a radio swap which was a huge pain in the ass and cost a lot more than it should have.

Now with that said, I bought my first Toyota in November of last year. It is a ‘24 SR5 crew cab. The dealer put the Toyota 3” lift, 20” method wheels, and Nitto Recon 295/60/20s. It is one of my favorite vehicles I’ve ever owned. It’s sitting at 3k miles right now and I haven’t had a single problem with it aside from issues I’ve had with the dealership I bought it from… Going from the V8 to the twin turbo v6 has been interesting but awesome and fun. We have had a lot of snow in Northern Kentucky and it has handled it incredibly well. I’ve towed a small trailer with a golf cart loaded on it and didn’t even know it was behind me. Only thing I miss from the Chevy is the 6.5’ bed vs the Toyota’s 5.5’ bed. After 7yrs of ownership, that’s it.

You guys getting lower mileage than you expected - give it 5-10k and your mileage will go up. Easy to get over 20 on the highway or mixed urban. Harder right now with cold temps and winter gas, but all of that will be gone in a few months.

I get 20 mpg pretty easily in the summer, but I have snow tires for the winter and that cuts mpg to about 18. My '24 SR5 has been very good, pleasant to drive and pretty much the first vehicle where I didn't pine away for a manual transmission. The engine/transmission combo is the best I've ever driven.

I just traded up to a 25 TRD Pro from a 22 SR5 premium. Love everything about the 2025 and the hybrid engine. The whole driving experience has been improved upon.

My only issue right now is with their new Mudbath color. Paint has multiple issues. Clear coat spots are my biggest concern right now. Various sized circles along the truck are visible in day light.

I have a repair order open and awaiting a response back from Toyota. There was also a spec of dust that was clear coated over. Hopefully they make it right.

Hard to make out on picture but it is in the clear coat. It’s not raised or bubbling. Anyone else experience this? At least it is documented with Toyota and if the clear ever fails, I’ll have it on record.

I had my truck paint corrected, full front PPF, and ceramic coated right after buying it. I’d recommend you go down that route and avoid any panel respray. The paint correction took care of all the minor paint stuff and they made it look great. I’d recommend you find your own shop.

I have about 350 miles on my 2025 Tundra Platinum I Force Max (had 2 miles when I picked it up) and absolutely love it. I am averaging about 17.6 with mostly city and urban driving. I came from a 2014 TRD Tacoma Crew cab with 50k on it and wouldn't go back. Just before we bought the Tundra we bought our Son a 2024 Tacoma SR5 four door and drove it a couple of weeks before he could pick it up and wouldn't have went from the 14 Tacoma to the 24 Tacoma.

First two years of owning my first Tundra have been anything but impressive. My 2023 Tundra is not what I was expecting from Toyota. Seat panel crack - ✅ Now, I’m dealing with Codes P017400 and P17800. Check Engine light came on. Tried to call the dealer from the truck, but the phone connection was disabled. Tried to set the cruise control, it was disabled. Transmission is not shifting properly, very rough shifts at low speeds. Truck died three times during a 3 mile trip. Headed back to the shop Monday because parts should be in. I’ve owned three Chevys and one Ford. The last Chevy is the only one to have an issue within the first two years. Now, I’m questioning my choice.

This isn't relevant to the thread. OP is asking about the current model years. We all know about the issues and growing pains of the first few years.

Sucks that you've had problems, but they aren't useful info in this case.

I was reluctant like you, but pulled the trigger on a '25 in April. I'm just a bit under 4000 miles into it, and I like the truck. Definitely wouldn't go with the cloth seats as I've driven trucks with them and they are not as comfy as the softex.

That said, I 100% regret moving out of my 2019 SR5 and wish I had kept it.

Your profile says you have the front bench seat in yours, so i hope you know that's not an option in the 3rd gen. The cab also feels a bit smaller. Bigger than a Taco, but not as spacious feeling as a 2.5 gen crew max or even the crew cab f150 I had.

How about that gas mileage, bet you miss that? Omg, 11mpg highway with 35’s and bumper del. Other than that and turn radius, which never thought was a thing until now. But still two thumbs up all and all.

I could get 12mpg in my '21 with the AT Overland Atlas on top (on 35s).... If I kept it <70... Maybe with a slight tailwind...

My '25 averaged 20mpg with less than 1k on it along a drive that the '21 would get ~12.5 on, but we'll see where the mileage ends up after the lift and 35s on this one.

Back to the topic, 9 days and 1,200 miles in, absolutely no complaints with my '25; other than disliking the OEM remote start operation (10 min, turns off when you unlock/open a door, requires a subscription, etc)

Just passed 7,000 miles on my 25' 1794, 6.5'. Freaking a galaxy difference better than the 2007 Tundra CrewMax just from a technology standpoint. People can argue the 5.7, etc but I'd say fit and finish and modern amenities make this a wonderful daily driver, if you don't mind the so-so mileage (avg 17-19) and fairly poorer towing mileage despite it pulling good. It's a LOT of truck...

I have 2300 miles on a 25 Limited (stock wheel and suspension) and have experienced no major issues. Comfortable, quiet interior, rides smooth with plenty of power. I read this forum a lot and so far I haven't dealt with any of the issues reported by other members with previous years. There is a break in period with the MPG and now I do average around the what the Toyota listed MPG is but I also drive like a granny.

The only thing I have noticed is on a few occasions when accelerating from a complete stop the truck can be a little jerky not smooth. It smooths out very quickly and is not a big issue for me but it is noticeable. You will find this listed as the "throttle lag" in the forums with members reporting different levels of issues. Not to start a melt down on your thread with other members but it's very minor for me and I have never felt unsafe or like it was a deal breaker. Since it's random & minor thing it seems like it could be corrected fairly easily by Toyota with a tune.

I don't typically buy the first couple years of anything due to the growing pains associated with anything mass produced but so far I feel like the 25 has most of the major kinks worked out and its a great truck.

Really hope your issue isn’t that it ate a bearing. That was supposed to be finally fixed months ago.

(Responding here because the 3.4L failures thread is not for discussion)

Simply put, there is no better truck for resale value. Have owned several Tundras, currently have 2025 SR5 3” factory TRD lift w/ 2200 miles, 2025 Limited loaded w/ TRD/OR w/ 12.5K miles & 2023 Sequoia Limited TRD/OR w/ 28K miles. Gen3 Tundra is light years better in ride. Love the way the aftermarket has rallied on the platform. Totally agree if you can afford it to upgrade the SR5, or just get a Limited or above trim to get the Softex seating. I personally will only do the TRD Off Road package as it makes these trucks with the rear coil springs into awesome highway cruisers - takes lean out and ride is firm but compliant. The power rear window is the bomb! Steer clear of the smaller gas tank models if you tow. Be interesting to see the mid model changes in 2026MY.

Brand new 25 TRD Offroad Platinum Iforce Max - Rear end replaced under warranty immediately, bad sensor in locking diff. Roof damaged while having that work done, body work done and roof repainted. 1022 miles, lost power momentarily while pulling out into traffic, scary. 1300 miles engine light on - Dealership service dept diagnosed a bad O2 sensor, waiting for part currently. 1448 miles now driving with engine light on until service dept calls with new O2 sensor. Owned the truck for a month, have driven it for a little over a week. In talks with Toyota.
