A couple weeks ago I bought a silver 2007 SR5 5.7 Double Cab with 140k miles, one owner, and I’ve recently noticed that the bed seems to be a very slightly different shade of silver than the rest of the truck. I’m hyper focused on it now, and may be the only person that can tell, but is this possible? I verified with the original owner that the bed has not been repainted or replaced. I will try to post a new photo later, very hard to see if at all in a photo. I’m thinking they maybe originally painted the cab and bed on different days and the paint mix was slightly off on the separate paints. Just strange…

Just took these, overcast day. Who knows, maybe reflections from the curvature of the bed. Or just in my head…

Maybe the cab was repaired and repainted. I see all kinds of cars around here that the front fenders are slightly mismatched due to accident repair. Welcome from VA.

It's possible it had minor damage before being sold and the dealership fixed it. My silver '07 doesn't look like it's two different colors. But it could just be an optical illusion and your eyes are playing tricks on you. I did buy a fender for a '16 Rav4 that was the same color. It was impossible to see the difference colorwise (red).

Probably just my eyes. I bought the truck the same day the dealer received it, after they did their prep, and the rep asked the previous owner (one owner truck) about previous work. Not really an issue, doesn’t bother me, it was a great find regardless.

I had that color on a 2008 I owned for 15 years, I can see what you mean. It was likely minor damage that was fixed at the factory or dealer before it was originally sold as somebody stated above. One of the more interesting things I've done is to take the tour of the Tundra/Taco factory in San Antonio about ten years ago. For all the high tech wizardry and robots involved in making cars one thing stood out. At the end of the fully robotic body welding line were a bunch of guys doing quality control - with shorty sledgehammers. They were beating various components into place and doing other metal repairs before the bodies went to the paint booth. I was definitely surprised but that's the reality of building trucks I guess. I assumed it was only the occasional body that need that kind of repair.

Wow that’s crazy! I would bet you are right, because there are absolutely no signs of a repaint, so I bet it’s a factory repaint job on the bed before assembly. I’m probably the only one that can see it, and I didn’t see it for a couple weeks .

I used to have a small business where I dealt with all types of manufacturing facilities, in particular the Cessna aircraft plants. I was able to see all phases of assembly, and it’s truly amazing to watch those things be put together from thousands of different parts and miles of wiring. Even though those were multimillion dollar aircraft being produced, they had their share of reworks.
