Howdy folks - glad to be a new member here (and shout out to the T4R.org members that treated me oh so well over the last how many years.).

It was a bittersweet last couple weeks as I just sold the 4runner:
    P1100996.jpg

    ...and picked up a 2020 Tundra 1794.
    PXL_20250202_204159239.jpg

I co-own a growing overland and off-road shop in WI and I have some unique plans with the Tundra build to showcase our shop's capabilities and partner manufacturers. That being said, I am excited to share the journey with the community.

I'll be creating a build thread shortly to diagram the story of this truck (hint hint, rebuilt title) and using it as a historical place to document maintenance and upgrades as I adventure with the new rig across the country.

Appreciate the info I have gained already and look forward to many good years ahead!

Appreciate it. Lots of labor, love, and dollar bills went into it. Excited to see where the 5.7 takes me though!

    I am assuming that 5.7L is a 4X4?
You will love it, though 4R/Tundra ain't exactly apple to apple comparison, but Tundra has so much more power, but more weight as well.
The only thing about 4R (in the short week that I had to drive one due to my Pilot died on the side of the highway in the wild) I dislike was the power. It was so slow.....it did handle the mountains very well, but on acceleration, man, I have to even ask 4R if it was even trying.....

Ouch, ya unknowingly hit me where it hurts - it's currently 2wd with the front diff carrier scheduled to be replaced next week. New diff, ECGS bushing, and Amsoil all around is going to get the rig back up and 4wd operational very soon.

But yes - the POWA (or lack thereof) is real. Especially when the T4R was full steel bumpers, skids, rack, storage solution, fridge, RTT, and on 35's... :bananadance:

I am in the same boat, back when I got the truck, all they had on the lot was 2WD.... I needed a new car replacement so I took it.... not hating it, but wishing it was 4WD/AWD so I can take it snowing/skiing....
Did you ever weight the 4R? Just reading that sentence makes me wonder what the weight is.... with or without fuel.... Just the steel bumper/skids/rack would be close to 300 lbs? Storage and fridge another 100 lbs, forget the 35s.....lol

Do a 4WD swap! Find a wrecked sequoia from a yard and buy the front end... I believe in you :militarypress:

I never did get a weight but I guess that I had I was well over 500lbs in armor and accessories. it still drove amazingly, but the freeway and cruise control was not the T4R's friend. I would trust it to go anywhere, anytime, though!

Welcome from SC! Convinced my wife last year to get a 4Runner and out of that Heep she was in. Glad to be a 2 Yota household these days

This ought to be fun to watch!!
You should plan on a Super Charger just for the heck of it! That would run nicely in Wisconsin.
All the best, and much luck on the upcoming build. :)
