I assume manufacturers can sell CAFE points. At least Tesla used to do so…

The HD platform for pickup trucks is not as simple as it seems. Driven by fleet and work truck sales and volume with everything from a base single cab 2500 to a 3500 dually loaded out, cab and chassis, etc...Toyota has zero interest in entering that market, they can't do the variety and mix needed. Only certain domestic dealers are in it to handle primarily fleet and municipal trucks. Toyota wants to sell to consumers with limited fleet sales to rental companies, Camry, Corolla, Rav4, Highlander, base Tacoma and Tundra. Concentrating on their core market honestly we are lucky they bother with the Tundra, but they don't want to lose folks moving up from a Taco.

Good point but I'm not counting on them to adjust enough for a full weight bed and trailer tongue weight the reality is we blind other drivers in cars anyway just thinking safety 1st on public roads it's hard enough to see at night, and a big reason I prefer driving my truck at night vs a car.

I like the looks of the dually but like most I don't think it will ever happen. I think Dodge, Chevy and then Ford have that market pretty saturated.

We can slap a HD sticker infront of TRD and the truck will now identify as HD.
