Just bought (well, not recently, but a few months back) a fairly expensive tent for myself, and for all this time I have been using the normal tent compression bag it comes in. I fold it up and get it into it for the next trip.

However, I wanted to see what you all run? Do you just use the storage sack it comes with, or did you buy a little bit bigger bag to store it in and not worry about having it compressed? If so, what did you get?

I really want to keep this tent long term.

The Tent I have now: https://alpsmountaineering.com/extreme-3-outfitter-tent.html

What I was thinking of getting, but wasn't sure if there was anything better: https://alpsmountaineering.com/tent-bags.html (I am looking at the medium one).

As long as it fits, I put whatever crap I can in those Greenmade brand yellow top storage bins you can buy at Costco or Home Depot.

    Function before sparkle.
As long as the tent is dry, the size of the stuff sack doesn’t matter.

I have been thinking about grabbing one or two of these and then I can just throw them in my truck and go. But when I am not using it...storage is a big hinderance.

Correct, and I am very, very careful of that. If I have any doubt, I set it up or hang it up and let it dry longer, then put it away.

I was reading somewhere that the conversation was that the same repetitive rolling and storing breaks down the tent itself (I do have to consider my source as it came from another online forum that I am not a member of), but it got me to thinking.

To TRDGoodness's point, MAKE sure it's dry. I backpack frequently, and more often than not I come back with at least damp gear. My garage ends up hosting all of my stuff for a few days before I put it all away.

As for the tent OP, it's really up to you. I tend to put my car camping tents back in their bags, and in the garage. My backpacking gear that's significantly more expensive gets dried really well in the garage, then into my closet put up until the next trip.

Thanks, and I agree with the drying. When I am camping, I usually let the tent stay up longer (say till noon), then I know it is dry. I then pack it away and it is good.

If the tarp I am on, or the ground is wet, it gets hung up to dry.

There is a "proper" way to fold a tent, and beyond that just make sure it's dry and dirt is all out. It sounds like you already do that though. I've had the same MSR tent for 14 years and it's still in great shape. You'll enjoy a nice tent.
Here's a pretty good instruction of how to fold the tent https://www.instructables.com/How-to-pack-a-tent/

My gear is almost always soaked. Rain/fog in warm season, condensation in cold season.

Hilleberg Soulo BL bag attaches to Gregory backpack like it belongs to it, I see no reason to change the bag for something else.

That is really compact! Thank you for the information.

I am going to be using the tent in a few weeks or so, and I will try to follow these instructions.
