Well thought I’d start a build thread. The is my first truck and first adventure in the 4wd off-road world. Coming from Adventure Bikes (I have a KTM 1190 Adventure and KTM 790 Adventure) where we call these modifications “Farkles”. So here we go on the farkling adventure.

Second owner of a 2023 Tundra Limited with TRD Off-road Package. Original owner installed:

    - Trifold bed cover
    - Rough Country 1.75” spacer.
    - Iron Bison rock sliders
    - Toyo Open Country 295/65-20

We were on a roll, so nex was the Baja Design hitch light. This should have been a 10 minutes install (with 5 of those minutes grabbing a beer) but nope. The holes in the plastic housing did not align with the mounting holes in the light housing. That hole is also countersunk for a button head bolt. Had to enlarge the through hole and the recessed hole for the bolt head which was too small to allow the head to fully seat. Piss poor quality from Baja. I sent them an email we’ll see if they respond.

    Looks good though.

So after those two installs went ok, I was ready for something easy. Rough Country Wheel Well Covers.
Well this one was the worst. What is Rough County thinking installing the UPS Label AND the packing list on the side of the covers that show. Heat gun, adhesive remover was not working. Finally some Gum Turpentine did the trick.

Last two for today were so easy but made a big difference.

AJT Designs console inserts. Pricey for sure, but fit perfect and look great.

Added a console tray from Amazon that fit perfect and looks great. I was sceptical based on the low price, but it’s seriously nice and includes the rubber inserts

Well since my 49ers are not in the game today, I thought two more “Farkles” to install today.
    AJT console

    Beat Sonic dual phone charger

Install was a bit of work, but well worth it as I did not have the wireless charging option like some come with. the AJT Design console looks amazing and the matte finish matches the interior.

    Hey Calif-Tundra,

I spoke with the entire Tech Team, and no issues with our hitch light kit have been reported. I installed one on my vehicle just two weeks ago and had it done in about 5 minutes. During installation, I encountered the same issue with the holes not aligning. To resolve it, I simply applied pressure to the light and pushed it down as it wasn’t fully seated. Whether this was the case in your installation or if it was a one-off issue with the housing, we understand how frustrating that can be. If it had been necessary, we’d have happily sent a new housing or one pre-installed with the light. As always, we're here to help. If there's anything we can do for you, feel free to reach out to me directly at brahianh@bajadesigns.com.

    Best,

Hi Bill. Thanks for reaching out. We did apply pressure to get it fully seated. The inner holes to the light housing were still off a bit so I reamed the hole out just a bit. But the larger hole for the head of the screw was too small and the Button Head screw would not go through.

No worries though it's mounted and not going anywhere. Lol I just wanted to provide the feedback to your team. Kudos on you and your Tech team for reaching back out on the forum and thank you for your offer to replace but I'm all set now.

Next up will be your Amber 20" light bar to the lower vent. This one will require the entire front end removal so I'm going to coordinate that with a new Covert Bumper with tow mounts. Deciding between Toyota, DV8, or CBI.

    Thanks again Bill . . .

I put a drawer knob in the middle of this tray (or wherever you want it) and it makes it a lot easier to remove if you need to get below it. Just an easy tip if needed

Well the rain stopped in the SF Bay Area, so knocked out a couple of mods.

First up was this cool honey comb insert I found on EBay. Yeah blocked one honey comb so probably gonna lose .25 hp, but I like it,

Next up was installing Toyota OEM Tow Hooks. I read the thread here and it looked totally doable which it was. We did NOT remove the entire front end which led to having to trim off the 2 side tabs that go under the mustache trim, but with 19 clips it’s not going to miss 2 of them.

Took about an hour total with the help of my Race Ramps.

Here is the kit although I bought from local dealer and had it in 3 days.

I need to find some smaller shackles, as these TRD ones are WAY to big.

Last thing for the day was the TRD skid plate. Total overkill and overbuilt, but much better than the stock one that comes on the TRD Off-road Package.

Posting this picture as I spent a ton of time trying to find the correct wiring diagram from Baja 3 wire harness to Toyota 5 wire switch harness.

Switch harness White wire - Black (same black) wire on Baja harness
Switch harness Red wire - White wire on Baja harness

Switch harness Yellow wire - Tan wire from one of the dummy switch connectors.
