Question about inspection cover rear main seal area

    Is this some type of inspection cover that can be removed with the one bolt? What is the purpose of it? (this is not my engine/transmission but a picture of another Tundra from the internet). ThanksTundra cover plate.jpg

    It’s an inspection plate for checking flywheel best I can tell from that picture.

    You won’t be able to see the rear main seal from that inspection plate though. What’s your real question? What are you trying to accomplish?

    lots of dents
    That inspection cover is to gain wrench access to the bolts that attaches the torque converter to the flexplate. You have to first remove the said bolts in order to separate the transmission from the belhousing.

    Yup, so silly they produced it like that for 26 years. At least I don’t have to pull my intake manifold to change the starter :rofl:
