Greetings from BC Canada. I bought a 2014 Tundra 1794 this past summer, I looked for this truck for years and I’m going to be buried with this one. We have cold winters here and I was surprised to find my Tundra does not have a heated steering wheel. I understood a heated steering wheel was standard in the 1794 package. However, my truck doesn’t have one. Is this unusual?

I have the same wheel, living in Maine I use it all the time during the winter. Works great! IMG_0423.jpg

I’m certainly enjoying my Heated Steering wheel in our winter climate! The steering wheel itself is a nice upgrade and the heated functionality is fantastic. I definitely recommend it.

I need to get one of these steering wheels. Is the install difficult?

There is a video, actually I thought it was from a previous thread on here. I watched and am not sure I want to tackle it...I think it was the wiring that scared me off for now.

The biggest challenge will be not unspooling the clock spring. I didn't use a wheel puller when I swapped steering wheels, and the clock spring came out with the wheel, and unspooled itself at my feet.

Essentially you just use a T25 or T30 to remove a screw from each side of the steering column (after disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery and waiting like 10-15 minutes), then disconnecting all the plugs, set the airbag down on something, remove the steering wheel nut, then either tug on the wheel or use a wheel puller, remove the clock spring (zip tie it so it doesn't change position), install new stuff.

It shouldn't take you more than an hour, that includes waiting to touch the airbag after disconnecting the negative terminal and taking your time.

Damaging the OEM clockspring during the installation of the new “heated” steering wheel shouldn’t be too much of a concern since it comes with a new replacement.

Where is the steering wheel made? My issue would be an air bag that didn’t deploy in case of an accident from a cheap ass, China made clock spring. I’ve actually found new clock springs for these trucks for less than 10 bucks. Considering the air bag signal runs thru it, don’t think I’d trust it if it’s a cheapy.

Does the wheel feel overly thick at all? How long does it take for the wheel to heat up?

The wheel feels proper in size. And as for the heat it gets warm pretty fast, within 3 minutes it’s fully warm.

You reuse the OEM airbag. But, yeah, I’m pretty sure the clockspring and steering wheel are made in China. If that’s a serious concern, I wouldn’t buy it. Personally, I’m not worried about it.

It’s definitely thicker than the OEM wheel but, not overly thick. It’s a pretty nice upgrade itself without the heated functionality.

Yes. I was pleasantly surprised by the leather and overall quality of the new steering wheel.
In fact, the leather on this steering wheel is much nicer than our new(ish) Bronco. I swear Ford is using vinyl…

The wheel is awesome I didn't do the heat but the leather feel and thickness feels just right. The pics make it look much thicker than the feel.

Yeah the pictures make it look thick, maybe I’m just used to the stock wheel. Now to decide if heating is worth double the price.

Would rather have heated seats but seems like a lot more difficult of an install.

Funny thing is I use the wife's wheel heater all the time in her rig. But opted not to do it in mine lol makes no sense I know.

Have you done that install before? I have a 2017 pro with leather seats but wanted to add the heating element. Haven’t found a super straight forward install or product.

Wheel install isn't difficult at all. Few threads on that. Wiring the heating function is also straight forward they provide the harness etc
