My wife has commented a few times when going to the movies “I wonder how many people have guns? “. I don’t pack, but it’s crossed my mind. There have been people shot in Theaters in the Seattle area.

I’ve thought I need to pack to go fishing, with the Meth heads and less likely animal threat. I have not gone fishing in a while.

I stopped fishing a lot of the S rivers because of that. I still carry whenever I'm out. WA gun laws are just crazy and are getting worse to be a "law abiding" citizen. Easier to just carry most of the time than deal with their storage requirements.

I have always carried in movie theaters. Considering you only have a couple exits....funnel situation.

Then the Aurora theater shooting happened and my concerns became real.

One of my old coworkers had a friend in that theater and was shot. He is a Marine (not active duty, out maybe 2 years) and told my coworker that it was the craziest thing he had ever experienced. That is saying something considering he was deployed over to the sandbox.

Funny you should say that. We were in Tacoma Washington in 2023 and the store my kids were in had a robbery. We were standing outside the store (aunt, wife, and I) and didn't even know it was happening until several masked people with bags were running out of the store...and then customers started running out. We ran in to find our kids. That was sporty.
After the fact we talked about it and they were surprised how fast it all happened. They now understand why I normally carry. We got on our flight in Seattle and can't say we will return any time soon.

Will refrain from the political side of it. I always made sure my 2 children, adult now, made keen observations, know exits and situational awareness.

Absolutely. When the shouting and glass started breaking, they jumped over a counter and stayed out of sight.

To contribute to the OP's question, I don't carry inside the house but there are guns in almost every room and I also keep a derringer in the shower.

Welp, it has nothing to do with how safe your neighborhood is or isn't. Just my opinion.... A few towns over in a town called Mont Vernon, which is a very small, "safe", close knit community in NH, there was a totally random homicide several years ago of a poor mother laying in bed with her daughter at a time when her husband was out of town, the daughter was stabbed multiple times and saved herself by playing dead and then calling 911 once the four pieces of shit left the house. The four pieces of garbage, who did this purely as a "thrill killing" admitted to police that they first knocked on someone else's door, where a man and his son came to a window near the door, but did not open it, they also admitted that they saw that the father had a fire arm behind his back when he came to the window, thus they decided not to break into that house later that night because of that, instead choosing the other.

Moral of the story, it doesn't matter how safe you think your neighborhood is, there is always a chance some loser or losers with bad intentions may break in or just come to your door and see if you will open the door willingly, or just to case your house. Just think of summer as well, when most people, including myself have slider doors open with easy to open screens.

I actually have a camera that has no cloud connection unless I pay, and it also does not record, I solely use it to check on my house and to see who is knocking. I do not carry while in my home, as I NEVER open the door if it's someone I don't know, luckily I have a bedroom with a window right next to the front door, so I want to I will just talk to them through the window/screen. I also have a storm door with a lock, although I know that isn't fool proof. Either way, the door doesn't get opened if I don't know them, I don't care who they claim to be!! I do worry in summer because I do open my slider doors and obviously the screens aren't going to stop someone from coming in. My town also requires a permit if you want to go door to door, and if you don't have that they will come find you and tell you to leave the neighborhood!

I guess it is personal choice... I don't carry in the house because I feel the chances of a serial killer or other nut case coming into my house while I am home is so slim, it's not worth the aggravation. As long as I can make it to the bedroom before they do I'm good!

That is a horrible story, but very real.

We had a family member that was involved in a home invasion, raped, and brutally killed in the Seattle area a long time ago. She was 19 at the time. The man broke into her home and tortured her for a long time. She died from internal bleeding. This POS was shoving a ketchup bottle so hard up inside her that it cause severe bleeding. There was more, but that doesn't need to be shared.

I can't imagine what she went through in the darkest time before her demise. Her dad lived well into his 90's and went to the parole hearing every year. Pure hate kept that man going.

The Agnostic in me says there's no recourse for evil such as this in an afterlife. The Christian upbringing I had hopes there is and that his due will be eternal suffering of the likes I can only relish to imagine.

That is a horrible fate!! One can only hope they were raped over and over again while being inmates!! I am trying to be a better Christian in my old age but I still have a ways to go before I forgive someone for such a terrible act!

I think I would be sending cash monthly on someone's books, you know just to help out a couple inmates!!! :)

And this kind of stuff is why I will always be in favor of the death penalty being an option. With this assault the offender clearly signaled that they are little to no value to society as a whole and resources should not be expended in their incarceration. Firing squad and be done with it.

I have a 2023 Tundra Limited TRD OR backed in the driveway with a ted TRD sticker facing out. People don’t mess with me!

If that doesn’t deter them, I have several 2A items and a shovel.

You should see his wrap sheet before this. Armed robbery, rape, assault...and it goes on.
