What a pointless article. It doesn't even specify which engine(s).

In all seriousness though if anything I just feel bad for folks who spent their hard earned money and have had to go through the headaches of vehicles issues with new or nearly new vehicles, trucks/cars/boats etc., regardless of make/model.

The GM half ton transmissions have very recently been a disaster too from what I've heard.

All manufacturers are garbage these days. Overpriced garbage, I will add. Everyone is cutting corners to reduce manufacturing costs and it is a mess.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a preliminary evaluation into possible issues with V8 engines in Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups, as well as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade SUVs. The affected population includes vehicles spanning model years 2019 through 2024.

Still not a specific, but narrows it down.

Absolutely this. The business model has become build a car that will last for the warranty period and after that it is in the manufacturers best interest for you to need a new vehicle. Having cars on the road 10-20 years down the road is no longer a priority.

The 8 speed 8L90 & 8L85 are just junk. Hell there is a class action lawsuit against GM due to these craptastic transmissions. The shit thing is the amount of vehicles these were used in. (Chevrolet Camaro, Colorado, Corvette, Silverado, GMC Canyon, Sierra, Yukon, Cadillac CTS, CT6, and Escalade)

The motors 5.3/6.2 used to be solid choices. Not anymore.

My '05 GMC Canyon is still carrying on well. 117K miles and I have no intention of getting rid of her.

She may go to my father once the '06 Tundra is in service.

I do wish she was a manual shift but I wish everything was a manual shift.

They should be recalling all of the 5.3 and 6.2 AFM engines. The 8 speeds aren’t terrible, they fail due to a combo of design / programming issue and poor understanding of maintenance required. If you own one, it needs more frequent ATF changes and LubeGuard Platinum is a game changer. Saved two of my friends from torque converter / transmission failure and replacement.
