Getting ready to install 2018+ LED headlights in my 2015 SR5 that now has Halogen headlights with amber DRL. Can’t decide which harness I want to go with, dimming or non dimming. Would like to hear from those who have done this upgrade and why you chose dimming or non dimming. I more than likely will do the amber DRL delete either way. Thanks for any input.

I did non dimming for the simpler install. Haven’t been flashed at night so I’m happy with my choice.

I did same as @AZBoatHauler , just for the easier install. Saves having to do that extra connection thru firewall and into cab.

Ive run it for a couple years I guess, not had any flashes or such to indicate they are too bright for oncoming traffic. We have auto inspections here as well, has not been an issue passing VA regulations...or maybe they just didnt notice the DRLs dont dim when headlights are on.

BTW, you will love the upgrade and wish you did it sooner.

So, I normally leave my lights in auto. With the new lights, If lights are in auto. I assume the LED DRL strips will be on in the daylight and when the headlights come on at dark the DRLs will stay on as well. Sorry but just making sure I understand how they work.

Yep, with headlights off, the halo DRLs are on full brightness. On factory trucks, or with the different Ihacker harness, the DRLS will dim when lights are turned on. Probably drops light DRL light output by 50% id guess.

My ihacker harness keeps the DRLs at full power, even if headlights are on. Its no biggie, drls are not so bright to cause an issue throwing light all over.

Thank you for that. Would you happen to have any at night with low and high beams?
