greetings, all. a few months ago i loaned my truck to a friend and it came back with this yellow/black paired wire dangling. not sure it was in use previously, as the ends were electrical taped. only thing i've noticed is the TPM light has been on constantly since i saw the wire and the reset doesn't seem to work. curious if anyone knows what this wire pair is meant to be connected to?

I think yellow and black means friend to Jack, so definitely not venomous.

Me too. I can't read what the writing says on the tape, though. Nor can I see what it appears to be terminating into. That would be the info most people would need to comment on this, @VAMinator

Mystery wiring is the most fun wiring!

    I second aftermarket alarm wiring.

it terminates into the black plug center of the picture (where the white/pink goes as well). just not sure where the e-taped end used to go. if it chased up after the white/pink, it went into the center stack behind the ac control/stereo area, but no idea if that was the original position or not. no aftermarket alarm system that i'm aware of. i'll try to get a better look/pic of the white tape wrapped around them. absent someone telling me "oh that controls the lower ball joint fluid sensor and without it they'll fall off", it feels like a tuck it under the panel and pretend i never noticed it sort of fix.

It takes maybe 5-10 minutes tops to remove that piece that the wire is going behind. I'd do that so you can see where it is going. You have to remove the pieces in front of it first, but it's just a few 10mm bolts that are easily accessible.

ETA - The HVAC bezel is even easier. Maybe try that first. It really takes 2 minutes.
Remove the three heater control knobs, then 5 phillips screws.

i removed the lower panel to expose it. one end is free with e-tape on it. the other terminates in the plug circled here, right behind the skinny black backup camera wire. admittedly, not a very good picture. whole wire is maybe 18-20" long and is in the picture.

Did you not ask the friend you loaned the vehicle to?????????????????????????????
"Hey doc, you remember seeing any wires hanging under the dash? Did you do something, or did you go under the dash, or did you hook something up?"

As the wire seems to be tied to the white/pink, I was more thinking about where does THAT go as the other end of the yellow/black may have been going to the same place. My 'concern' is that the ends of the yellow/black wire were not 'capped' with electrical tape originally, but were twisted together with another pair of wires where the white/pink wires are going and then wrapped with tape. As the electrical tape is on the wires that you can see, that would mean bare exposed ends on the wires they were connected to (if they were).

    Edited for clarity.

I want to know (A) what this label says, (B) what, if anything like part number or words, is embossed on the thing it terminates into.

Possibly some unused wires from the head unit wiring harness that finally just fell down after being tucked for a long time? Could be worse long pink things coming untucked on you when you least expect it.
