I bought them about a year ago and I like everything about them, except the fact that they're not that bright when driving at night around town. Has anyone tried to make the low beams brighter by changing resistors, adding a potentiometer, etc.?

Hey, so I've been looking at getting a set of these for my 2010 as the previous owner put a pair of super cheap ones in and they are terrible. Wondering what version you have and or how long ago you purchased them?

I poked around the web and didn't really see much or anyone doing any special mods to them aside from tinting ect.

I found this blub on the retrofitsource site. Not that it's super helpful so could be info you already have..
https://blog.theretrofitsource.com/...adlights do not, with any other headlight unit.
    • XB LED headlights do not contain any replaceable bulbs for the low-beam or high-beam portions of the headlights. Only the XB LED Hybrid headlights contain a replaceable turn signal bulb. If your OEM turn signal bulb stops working overtime, you will replace this as normal with any other headlight unit.

How are they not that bright? I went from OEM headlights to Morimoto XB headlights and found it to be a dramatic upgrade. I've got both the headlights and XB fogs now installed and think they are the best upgrade I've done to the truck. What are you comparing them to when you say they are not that bright?

Take a picture of them on low beam up against a wall on a flat parking lot. Park 25’ from the wall when you take the pic.

    Pretty things
Don't think it's necessarily about the Morimotos being brighter than others (though I noticed quite the upgrade in output over factory halogen), but the materials and build quality making the difference.

They also provide a warranty to make customers even more comfortable, and I suppose back up their quality.

I have liked mine and would purchase replacement Morimotos if I experienced an issue outside warranty.
