Grinding from reverse to drive as well as clunking

    Hi I have a 2018 toyota tundra and its having a weird issue. WHen sitting overnight, its summer here, I take from park to reverse and release the brake and I have a grinding. Same from reverse to drive. The clunk is there as well, but ive heard thats normal. Let me know if it isnt. But the issue is that grinding only happens when I release the brake, however sometimes if I partially release the brake or some other operating parameter it has alot of grinding and goes a bit crazy. However it goes away in a second. Once in awhile itll do it with the brake fully pressed. I thought it was brake related, but after driving the car and doing the same reverse to drive etc I still have the clunk but no grinding at all even after sitting a few hours. Im wondering if its transmission because if it was when it was warm not doing that could possibly mean something. I guess something is moving when the brake is fully/ partially engaged/ right after I release it. Let me know what you guys think. I tried to upload a video but it wouldnt let me. Rotars maybe????

    no I havent, dont know how, but I will have my mechanic do it. Hes one of those old school guys that doesnt rip you off. What else do you think it could be?

    pads or shoes. If the pads are worn down making a grinding noise I’m sure the rotors will need replace id check out the whole thing. Pads,rotors,brake shoes on the rear. Go from there. How many miles on the truck? I know my brake pads were dam near completely worn down at 50-55k miles

    wouldnt it do it all the time though, not just when I go from reverse to drive etc.

    Could it possibly be surface rust on the rotors when you first start driving ? That would explain it not doing it when it's warm .

    Did you ever figure it out? I’m having a similar issue now with my 2019. Only hear that grinding noise when I shift, especially when cold.
