What home improvement work did you do today?

Normally architects are the bane of my existence, but, since I work with them I got you. That is a colonist style door, also can be referred to as a 6-panel colonist. Most residential doors are 80" tall but you can probably find other sizes and I'm 1400miles away from putting a tape measure on @T-Rex266's door

 

Installed a Ring flood light. These things are pretty cool. My old flood light in this spot died an early death due to bugs going into the light and shorting it out haha. I haven’t put up my usually hardwired POE cameras at this house so decided to try out this Ring option which just uses the existing electrical and a wifi connection (sub 30min install with basic tools).

So far so good, downside is monthly subscription but you pay that with an offsite DVR camera backup anyways. The Ring app and camera delay is surprisingly fast. It is annoying to have my phone buzz whenever I walk outside as it “recognizes a human” in about 1 sec. Fighting the T-800s is gonna be brutal in a few years.

 

6 panel? Unless I’m seeing a different picture that’s a 2 panel that looks more like this, no?

 

Did all our doors in 2 panel a few yrs back. Definitely a different look than 6 panel

 

Swapped out the 100 Watt 10" sub woofer, which I thought was really good when watching movies untill this bad Larry showed up...
1,600 Watts with a 16" driver at 95# and Holy smokes, pictures are falling off the walls on the second floor.
Man this thing delivers a deep low frequency so low you can barely hear it but your ass rumbles through the couch.
Best audio addition for the home theater!

Gotcha. Another follow-up dumb question. What’s the between a two panel and shaker two panel? Is it just that the shaker has 90* cuts and no beveled edges. Sorry, just a newbie trying to learn over here

How are those doors standing upright by themselves?

 

Question for you and anyone else who has a sub on hard wood or any hard floors. How do you keep the sub from walking away? We've always had carpet so it's never been an issue. In our new house we have LVP flooring and I can't keep my sub from trying to walk half way across the room and then unplugging itself.

 

Have you tried some rubber on the feet?

This product seems okay, but I am sure you can find similar that would be perfect for you.

 

It has really nice rubber or silicone feet the 100 watt one had half dollar sized feet this new one has four 1"X3" rectangular feet and it would definitely need it.
I still can't believe the sound that comes from it,it is truly remarkable.

I screwed a stirring stick to the tops of two doors so they'd stay up in pairs. Made setup and painting real easy. Took me longer to tape the cement than to paint the doors.

 

Cost of that sub is irrelevant as it’s also a great side table!

 

Maybe mine is turned down compared to yours? Mine has never walked.

 

I did a bunch of research today and ended up buying some subwoofer isolating feet. I should get them delivered later today. We'll see if it works.

I have an isolation platform on mine and hasn’t moved since the day it was installed. It’s an older svs cylinder sub that will literally rumble the foundation and pressurize the room. I am laid up with the stomach flu at the moment but I will get a picture of my platform when I make it out of bed

 

I'm going to make rubber bottoms for the coasters

I've got a few of those around the yard. When I know I'm gonna be outside for a while, I snooze the alerts for certain cameras 30 minutes or a few hours.

Finally got this done. Thankfully I anticipated problems and bought a full rebuild set. The exposed PVC crushed under the cutter almost immediately. Thankfully no branches beat me to this.

Need opinions. Can these walls be saved or is this a tear out, re-sheet, and then re-knockdown job? Cost isn’t an issue; it’s time. Previous owner must have put over 100 drywall anchors in here. Wonder if they ever heard of hitting a stud and using a support bracket?

 

If the wall is solid I would knock down the anchoring points with a ballpien hammer and 1/8" veneer skim coat.
