Could be a couple of things:

7-10 years ago we offered two different wheels for the Tundra which were compatible with OEM Rock Warrior caps. We stopped making those wheels about 5-6 years ago. The caps that we made at that time were all FNW embossed center caps (not blanks, and none of them said TRD on them).

We also used to keep hundreds of Rock Warrior caps in stock before Toyota's cap manufacturer went out of business. I sold the last of the OEM Rock Warrior caps a little over a year ago, and, as we all know, Toyota no longer makes those caps.

You might have also seen customers who installed alloy-colored (silver) TRD caps into the FX Pro or other FN wheels. Those are not Rock Warrior caps though. The caps you might have seen are probably the "Tacoma TRD Baja" caps, which Toyota put back into production last year. The Baja cap diameter is basically a larger diameter version of the Rock Warrior cap.

TRD Baja cap (also known as FJ SE cap) part # is: PT280-35220-G0. This cap will not fit the OEM TRD Rock Warrior wheels, but it will fit most FN wheels, including the 18" FN FX Pro flow formed.

Had the new wheels installed today, along with 33.7" 285/70R18 BFG KO3s. Decided to go with the new raise center caps. LOVE the whole setup! Dealing with some rubbing issues now, but hoping to get that sorted soon. Thanks, @FNWheels !

    Thanks @AggiePhil ! Looks great!

The rubbing with 285/70R18 tires should be a fairly easy fix. First, try using a heat gun to warm the plastic fender liner and then hold it back in place tool with an aluminum baseball bat, floor jack handle, or something similar. This should give you enough clearance to eliminate most, if not all, rubbing with the 285/70R18 tires.

If that doesn't work, then Coachbuilder bumper shims will definitely eliminate any rubbing with up to 295/70R18 (34.3" OD) tires:

@FNWheels I love my BFDs and these look great too, but I would hereby like to request you make an affordable duplicate of some Work Meisters for the tundra for me to add to the collection. :D

I'm interested, however there would have to be a gloss black option and a healthy discount through the group buy. Otherwise there is a competing product that I'm more likely to buy

Thank you for your feedback. It's unlikely that we will have a gloss black option, as we haven't had many requests for gloss black. Our high gloss dark gunmetal would be the closest color to gloss black.

The price listed in the Group Buy is a pretty deep discount for a well-made, brand name, flow formed, high purity 6061 T6 alloy wheel from a reputable company of 20 years. If you're considering EBAY / Alibaba type replica wheels with lower quality materials and methods of construction we won't be able to compete with those prices, since those wheels aren't really competitive with the quality of our wheels or with the service that we provide. There are cheaper sources for materials and means of manufacturing, lower cost shipping options, overhead reductions with regards to providing (or not providing) customer service, but that's not what my company (FN Wheels) is about.

This is not intended to be a slight or a sign of disrespect in anyway. I know that there's a market for cheaper wheels just as there is a market for wheels that cost twice as much as our wheels. I've just never been interested in sourcing the cheapest wheels possible and then selling them as a no-name brand on EBAY without providing our customers with a working phone number, physical address or any other means of contact. There are guys who do that, and when their products fail they can easily fold up, re-brand, and start over without anyone knowing who they are/were.

I think for the quality of the wheel, it’s hard to beat his prices already. The fact they are flow form, not just a cast wheel, and the metal alone are a huge value. These wheels can handle a lot and super quality paint. I look at wheels as the same as tires or brakes, you get what you pay for. Cheaper wheels seem to have issues with cracking or holding air/ balance issues.
Plus you’re supporting a small business based in America.

No, considering eBay/Alibaba wasn't even a thought for me.

When it comes down to it, there are plenty of options available with a gloss finish, so I don't feel the need to compromise. I might even buy some stock 18s and powder coat for a fair amount less. I do think it is unfortunate that you don't provide them in that finish, but apparently I'm in the minority on finish.

Question on lug nuts I’ve had some members ask me privately. Is there a difference with using conical lug nuts vs OEM washer style ones?

I thought conical maybe helps center the wheel better on the hub?

These use I believe a m14x1.5 style lug nut pattern

Understood, and again I meant no offense. I agree that you shouldn't have to compromise on what you want. In fact, I don't compromise with respect to the quality of our wheels or customer service. Not all wheels are created equal, and I often get asked about the comparison between our wheels and "XYZ" wheels that someone saw on eBay, Amazon, Alibaba, Temu, etc. When you said "healthy discount," that usually sets of an indicator to me that our wheels are being compared to cheaper, discount wheels.

We are very much open to offering the wheels in a full gloss black, non-metallic finish. We just haven't had enough requests (yet) for full gloss black.

With that said, have you checked on the price for powder coating lately? Labor and material costs have increased substantially over the last 4 years. I think you'll find that the cost to powder coat a set of wheels the right way (strip, mask, prime, powder and clear) nearly exceeds the cost of a brand new set of flow formed (with a warranty) wheels from us. This doesn't account for the cost of the wheels themselves either (be it a used or brand new set of OEM wheels). Used wheels come with potential unseen issues, and of course powder coating a new set voids any factory warranty.

If your wheels are powder coated without all of the proper prep work you can run into adhesion issues (peeling), clearance/tolerance problems created by a build of powder inside the center bore and lug holes (i.e. the wheel no longer fits over your hub), and vibrations from powder build up on the back pad / mounting surface. The wheel should be stripped, the back pad and center bore should be masked off, the lug holes should be plugged with silicone, then wheel should be primed, powder coated and finished with a clear coat for durability. These steps are crucial for long term durability, but because of the labor involved it's not cheap.

There are some powder coaters who will scuff up the finish with a scotch bright pad, powder coat the wheel, and send you on your way, but more often than not that will lead to other issues.

Shoot me a PM or an email if you have more questions. I'm more than happy to provide any advice or assistance whether you purchase a set of wheels from us or not.

Correct. Conical lug nuts make it easier to center the wheels compared to the OEM mag-shank with washer style lug nuts.

Our FX Pro wheels are hub centric for the Tundra. This means that the center bore (hole in the middle) of the wheel is centered on the Tundra's hub, but we still prefer to use conical lug nuts as they're easier to install and look better than OEM style mag-shank lug nuts.

I've seen a number of Toyota trucks over the years with OEM wheels that have lug holes that have been ovaled out because a technician used an impact gun to force the shank of an OE lug nut into the lug hole without centering the lug by hand first. Conical lug seats and conical lug nuts largely prevent this.

Aftermarket conical lug nuts provide more socket clearance compared to the bulky OEM lug nuts, so the installer has more forgiveness when installing the lug nuts (less likely to scratch your wheels).

The thread pitch, lug pattern and offset varies based on the generation of the Tundra.

2000-2006 Tundra wheels have 6x139.7mm bolt patterns and the studs are M12x1.5P. Low offset wheels are preferred for the first gen Tundra.

2007-2021 Tundra wheels have 5x150mm bolt patterns and the studs are are M14x1.5P. Mid to High offsets are preferred for the second gen Tundra.

2022+ Tundra wheels have 6x139.7mm bolt patterns and the studs are M14x1.5P. Mid to High offsets are preferred for the third gen Tundra.

We offer the FX Pro with fitment options for both the first and second gen Tundra, and we'll be offering them in proper specs for the third gen Tundra soon.

I know that lots of people want more poke and all that, but one of the biggest things that keeps me from changing wheels is that you can't get anything that looks good anywhere close to a stock or slightly more aggressive than stock offset. I can't help but wonder if there are more people like me who would change wheels if there were a less aggressive offset option.

I'm heavily considering these https://parts.elmhursttoyota.com/oe...trd-18-in-flat-black-alloy-wheel-ptr5635242f1 because they are only a +45, but I very much prefer the look/style and color options of your FX Pro wheels. Are you only planning to offer them in the one offset or can I hope to see a more conservative offset as an option?

The fun part with the 3rd gen wheels is that they'll also fit on the new 4Runners and Tacomas. It's a larger market to potentially pick up sales. Be sure you're letting those folks know as well. Regardless of what offsets you offer, I wish you great success with these wheels!
