I'm trying to decide between the Factor55:

    1) Ultrahook - Not sure I need this with Softlinks, and seems higher profile. Seems gimmicky.
    2) FlatLink - Leaning towards this.
    3) FlatLink E - Not planning on shackles, but you never know.

What are your pro's / cons for how you chose?

This can depend on what your using for shackles. The Ultrahook in my opinion is just gimmicky, it has some nice features built in but will you ever really use them without reading an instruction book?
I don't use a hook on the end of my winch line, just the factory eyelet. When I need to connect to something a soft shackle goes into the eyelet and on the tree strap or whatever I'm hooking to (depending on what it is). I don't like these things because I always think about the aftereffects if what I'm hooked to breaks. I don't want that chunk of aluminum flying back at me like a bullet. About all I find these things good for is a coolness factor and preventing your winchline from going past the fairlead.
IF I were to have to choose between the 3 I'd go with the Flatlink E. It offers the larger hole for a soft shackle eyelet to slip through, especially if it has a protective sleeve over it. The flatlink won't accept anything but a D Ring, essentially doubling the bullet size flying back at you.

I second going hookless. Less metal to become projectiles. Soft eye and soft shackles and carry a metal shackle if needed for a sharp edge connection point.

I went with FlatLink E. I felt the Ultrahook was gimmicky for the premium price. The FlatLink E is good for Shackles and soft links so I went with the more flexible option.
