    Totally frustrated.

    * 2022 Tundra Crew Max SR5
    * 30,000 (story starting) now with 40,500 miles.
    * Single owner
    * Used a trailer once to haul 16’ lumber.
    * Used 4wd probably 10 times, never on highway. Mainly to get out of a muddy parking lot.

    At about 30,000 miles I started to feel a slight shudder while on the highway. It got worse quickly and I was pretty confident that I had an issue with my brakes/rotors.

    I took it to the dealership and was told that all 4 of my rotors needed turned. In addition to this, my back brake pads were at 20% life at approx 30,000 miles. My front brake pads were comparatively at 70%.
    I don’t haul things besides sports equipment and family, I don’t brake hard very often.

    I was totally confused at how the rotors were bad already, and the back pads somehow needed replaced well before the front ones.

    After a suggestion where I may have gotten a car wash while the rotors were hot from stopping I guess it’s plausible, though unlikely.

    I still don’t understand the brake pads.

    Any suggestions?

    My second issue started last summer.

    My son was eating some FunDip candy in the front seat. (Flavored powdered sugar with a sugar spoon).
    He spilled some on the climate control panel.

    We cleaned it up as best we could, but I was worried about the controls.

    Sure enough they started sticking and being tough to toggle in November.

    I had whatever warranty you can get that’s supposed to be bumper to bumper after the manufacturer warranty goes away at 36,000.

    They replaced the climate panel for me under warranty, but noticed some white powdery substance behind the module when they replaced it. (I can ONLY imagine what they thought that was! Hah)

    Three days after I got the vehicle back it started alerting that the airbag module was bad.

    I took it back to the dealership and they confirmed the module was faulty. They said it was because some of the powder must have gotten down in the module and shorted it.

    They refused coverage due to their thoughts that the candy was what ruined it.

    I paid the $1300 to have it replaced and got it back Friday.

    they then tell me that the seatbelt patch sensor is also bad and I need that to be fixed as well which is going to be another $700.

    How is it even possible that they can install such critical electronic equipment such as an airbag control unit and it not be sealed from debris?!

    Anyone else had this issue? They said the item was on a backorder of 300+ u its when discovered.

    super frustrated.

    I can’t comment on any of the electrical stuff, but if you use adaptive cruise then this will be your life on brakes for the future.

    I don’t actually. To be totally honest, I couldn’t tell you how to use cruise in it. Haha

    You expected Toyota to warranty it when it was you own child who caused the failure?

    Spirited driving? Idk about 3rd Gen but 2.5 TC uses the rear brakes to reduce wheel spin, it's hell on brakes if you drive it hard.
