Hi all, sorry if this has been answered before, but in initial research I haven't found forums with the same problem I'm experiencing.

Just bought a 2015 tundra- On my way home from picking up, fuel gauge was on E and the "miles to empty" said LOW FUEL.

I stopped and filled up- only fit 16 gallons in. Hopped back in the truck, the fuel gauge read just below 3/4 of a tank. I jumped back out and went to put more gas in it, but it was full. The pump kept stopping, it wouldn't take any more. Still read 3/4 of a tank.

I've filled up a few more times since then, always stopping at 3/4 of a tank, and when filling up at~1/8 of a tank, I can only fit ~14 gallons in it. I peeked under and saw it's the 26 gal tank (not the 38) so I'm assuming I've still got 10-12 gallons in it when the gauge reads empty, clearly something is wrong.

My guess is the float, or level sensor, or whatever technology measures the fuel height is broken. Has anyone experienced this before? Any recommendations? I am hoping I don't have to drop the tank, but if need be I can. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Sounds like an evap issue causing the pump to cut off early.

Yes, this is most likely the level sender / potentiometer built into the fuel pump assy. Can’t remember if that component is sold separately. Tank needs to come down. It could also be corrosion on a terminal increasing resistance. The level sensor just creates variable resistance based on float location, so adding resistance in the wiring will throw off accuracy
