    07-13 Quality 75w90 synthetic

    14-21 Quality straight 75weight, or, alternatively, 75w90 synthetic. My dealership (low bar, I know...) uses 75w90 in transfer cases, even t cases still in warranty.

    No need for anything heavier.

    EDIT - Just saw that your truck was 2003 and not 2008... Disregard the above..

    Does 1st gen call for GL-4 oil in the T-case?


    GL-5 is for differentials… it has more sulphur that can corrode “yellow metals” I.e. brass synchronizers in a T-case. This is why GL-4 is spec’ed for transfer cases.

    Viscosity is less of an issue. Lower viscosity in newer models is mainly to meet CAFE standards and enabled by better quality synthetic oils than were available 20+ years ago.

    I like the Mobile oils personally,

    And, I'M a big fan fan of running Mobile 75-145 in all my Freightliner Cascadia diffy's , and change them every 100K miles, every 9 months.

    My tanker drivers twist frames on trucks, so it's Mob.il for me
