Just take the entire valve out old school if the adapter gets lost or something.

Yes that is an option. Just seeing if there was another way as well. Appreciate it.

I don't think you can, there is a check ball that needs to be pressed in to drain. I guess you could use a small pick or screwdriver but it will make a mess. I have a spare drain if you need one?

Thanks for the offer. I haven't bought one yet. Just considering both brands.

Having had both, I like the Valvomax. Faster flow. More rugged and compact design. Cap acts as a backup if something were to go wrong with the check valve. The adapter with the built in hose directs the fluid where you want and can start and stop flow by turning the adapter on and off (good for sampling, no advantage over the fumoto)

For those using a valvomax, I replaced my fumoto with one today. Do you need to use a crush washer to install the vlavomax? I didn’t and have no leaks but just wondering what everyone else is doing……I can add one next oil change if needed.

mine had a washer already threaded onto the valve; I was wondering if it still needed a crush washer

The washer is the “crush washer” it’s like the ones on the Allen head plugs on the front differential they just look like a washer

Looking to add a Valvomax, are there any concerns with oil that cannot drain since the threads stick up inside the pan trapping oil?

There was a thread recently on this with someone having added photos after dropping the pan, the threads barely extend into the pan and based on the design there is negligible impact.

I broke mine at less than 10 ft lbs.

I'll see if I can find the pictures.

Maybe I'm just old school? I understand the possible convenience of installing one of these valves, but I only change oil every 5000 miles, I've NEVER had any issues with a plain old drain plug. Unscrew it, drain, then screw it back in. I've just never understood the need for one of these valves.

You're right, BUT it makes it soooo much easier and less messy. Don't have to worry about cross threading, overtorquing, etc. Hook a hose up to the valve and drain the oil straight into the recycling container. No need for a drip pan and transfer to another container. I have put one on every car we have and can do an oil change in about 20 minutes on each. I did switch to the valvomax on the tundra.

For the exact reasons mentioned, well said. Not to mention, no tools required. I can usually turn my filter off by hand.

I do replace my plugs with magnetic plugs, which for obvious reasons unfortunately might be best for a Tundra. :(

Has anyone replaced the washer the valve comes with? I took the valve off the old engine and now wondering if I should use a Fumoto washer or if the oem one will do.

The washer that comes with the fumoto is fine; that's what I used for years and never had an issue

Yeah, thats what I had used...but I took it off the old engine before I got a new one due to the recall. Now Im wondering if I should order a fumoto washer or just slap an oem one on there.

I am deciding how to play this myself. I am due for an oil change now and that might get me to July when my engine is scheduled to be replaced. So, do I pull the Fumoto this time? Or leave it on and maybe the dealer would swap it over when they change the engine? If I pull it now and the replacement gets delayed then I might have to do another old school messy oil change.

I pulled mine and just let the oil simmer in there till the recall. Toyota will destroy the old engine anyways. I didnt want to cause the tech any more trouble with the valve swap since the engines come pre-filled with oil.

Don't think I'd trust a valve from AliExpress.

I don’t have the Fumoto (plan to add), but my last oil change went from a 5k to a 10k interval before the swap

Spark Plugs never got done either
