    Hey guys
Was thinking about getting my wife into a sequoia 2nd gen. She drives a jeep wrangler 2015 right now. Our family is growing so I was thinking maybe a Sequoia to future proof the seating numbers.
You guys think 2014 and above are good? I am currently driving a tundra 2015 for selfish reason I don't want to swap my truck out for the sequoia lol
    Anything to look out for?

Sequoias have a pretty good reputation. We were looking for a 2nd gen for a while before we ended up in a LandCruiser. The sequoia is essentially a tundra with coil springs in the back.

same stuff you’d look for on a Tundra - cam tower leaks, decent maintenance history. Ideally you can find one that’s had the coolant replaced at least once.

We did. Found a 2017 to match my truck. It was a few bucks more than the Sequoias we were looking for but the build quality/materials made it easy to justify the additional cost.

It was around $65k with about 60k miles back in the first half of 2022.

We’ve put almost 60k miles on it in 2.5 years.

It's not a Land Rover (had a few), the air suspension works great in comparison.

Limited or Platinum so you get heated seats, auto up/down lift gate, dvd player, power fold mirrors etc etc. The earlier models have a nice big tranny cooler, not sure what year they changed that. Oh yeah, the air suspension is fantastic, I won’t buy another without it. If you have more than two kids the 2nd row captain’s seats are the way to go so they can walk through to the back, a 200 series can’t pull that off.

Congrats on the Land Cruiser. We have a 2018 Sequoia Limited 4x4 for my family of six and it works great for us. We have 3 boys and a girl and two of my boys are over 6 foot tall as am I. Sequoia has more headroom than any other large SUV. I highly recommend if anyone is on the fence to get one. My daily driver is a Tundra TRD Pro double cab. That 5.7L V8 is just awesome. Your Japanese made 5.7L V8 is even better!

My brothers 2019 GMC Yukon XL just had the 5.3L V8 lifter/camshaft/o-rings go out. Cost him $7,000+ to fix. I warned him not to buy that POS but he didn't listen.

I also went the 200 series route like @AZBoatHauler . We’ve put 43k miles on ours in 2 years.

My wife, who does not ever pack light for trips and thinks the ideal vehicle is a Suburban, would still rather have a Sequoia for the space. She’s not a nerd for the 200/570 like me.

Think of the 200/570 as a somewhat bloated midsize vehicle (slightly larger interior than a 4Runner), and the Sequoia as a fullsize (like a Tahoe).

Despite being the same width as a Tundra and something like 12” longer than a 200 series, the Sequoia has a tighter turn radius than both. Interesting.

We may run our LX to 250k and trade it in on a newer Sequoia. Despite needing to replace the alternator, the LX has been a very good vehicle, and our oil report from 185k (about 7k miles ago) came back with perfect results.

Any lesser trim level will feel like a step down from an LX 570 (even a 2009 like ours), so we may brave the air suspension and melting door panels for a Platinum Sequoia when the times comes. Or maybe a Limited (no ventilated front seats, no rear dvd player, no 2nd row console, no air suspension like a Platinum).

One thing I read you can do with 2nd row bench Sequoias is remove the middle 20 from the 40/20/40 bench and basically have captains chairs (minus the armrests).
