    Hi all,

Looking for insight and solution to my 2nd gen Tundra. 2007 Crewmax 4WD. I recently got a notice that my oil change date was expiring on the maintenance tab of the navigation system. I really like this feature even though the technology is old. I normally track fluid changes by mileage and this was the instance where I had more mileage to go before true scheduled maintenace, but the month/year were up for expiration.

Naturally, I went in to change the date to a future date in 2025. This is where the error occurs. The last two digits of the screens won't let me go past 2024. I backed out the screen and then the other maintenance tabs began to show up red (noting the date was expired, all were set to 20240. I get an error messag"cannot use dates past the year 2024".

I looked through manual, nothing about this in setting to change. I took it to Vic Vaughn in Boerne, TX and they say it's a software & factory design flaw issue. There is no software or firmware update for this fix. I reached out to Toyota of North America and shared what Vic Vaughn shared with me. They referred me back to dealership. I informed them they say it's a factory error. I wanted confirmation. They were useless, citing it's out of warranty and to go back to dealership for assistance. Idiotic.

I would like to avoid getting a new head unit, maybe it's time since I do like Apple CarPlay. But I wanted to retain this maintenance feature in the truck as it would go away with a new head unit. I also track my mileage and service on my apple notes as a back up as I do with all my vehicles & motorcycles, so it's not that big of a deal if I replace the OEM Navi system.

Any known issue or fixes for this issue? Thanks in advance.

Change is hard, but I wouldn't fight it. The aftermarket radios are great, packed with a ton of functions incl maint features, and can even tie in with your accessory controls on your steering wheel. As you note, you'll probably lose the OEM maint feature though. Not a huge loss for me, as I prefer to track all my maint in Excel. I have a Kenwood Excelon DMX706S that serves me well. Recommend bite the bullet and move on.
