    OEM or Aftermarket?

I am wanting to put one in my new 25 platinum off-road. Looks like the OEM one is matte black, is it smooth or rough textured? Are any aftermarket ones smooth and more of a shine to it? I think I would like that better. I have never seen either in person.

I'm glad you asked as I'm interested as well. I have the same vehicle you do and was at my Toyota dealer today (not who I bought the truck from) to see about purchasing the Heritage (TRD PRO) grill and got some conflicting info. The young girl at the counter (who had certainly been there long enough to know and was very helpful) said the dealership shy's away from selling the insert because apparently there had been some problems in the past. She alluded to different models having different sensors, etc. and likely caused a customer heart-burn when they ran into a snag they weren't expecting. Regardless, she found two different part numbers (both were listed at $282.78) and wasn't sure which was which:

    P/N 53101-0C220 GRILLE SUB-ASSY
    P/N 53114-0C530 GRILLE, REDIATOR

Before I left, someone who worked there quietly suggested that I purchase online and even recommended Yota Expeditions. I was surprised but pleased that they were trying to help me in spite of the fact that it brought them no business.

I was able to find the first P/N via the mobile app and it does appear to be the inner grill though the picture doesn't represent it as the Heritage grill, but I question if that is expected. The 2nd P/N did not pull up anything.

I know there are many who have swapped these out so I will continue to search for those posts. If I find anything, I'll link it back here. Otherwise, I may just go with the Yota Expeditions' grill.

The OEM grilles are not that expensive and have the OEM look, fit and finish. Aftermarket ones are just as well made overall, but I prefer keeping OEM texture personally with the TOYOTA lettering integrated. I went aftermarket when I put the pro grille on my 3rd gen Taco (OEM was like $400 at the time, aftermarket was <$200) and it was fine for several years but it did have that smooth shine to it. Given the low price on OEM that's the route I went as I like the texture.

I personally had a great experience w/ Rave Offroad's kit including their market lights and light bar.

OEM grill, under $200 from Sparks parts. Plus shipping, lights etc. Installed it myself. Easy but time consuming. The real expense with this particular grille is the lights, switch, relays & wiring involved. And depending on which grille you are replacing, a front camera bracket if your truck has one. 20250116_161214.jpg
