Running into the ominous secondary air problems. Trying to figure out if a bypass kit will pass the scan tool on state inspections. I've got a friend to do the inspection so not worried about it being noticed by the tech. Thanks for the help

The secondary air system only comes on when the engine is cold and first starting,,least that is what I think it's supposed to do. That's the understanding on other vehicles I've owned and worked on.
If that is indeed the case then, the secondary air wouldn't be tested when the sniff test is being made by big brother.

Yeah I've been fighting this trying not to pay the 3000$ price tag the Toyota dealers give me to fix it. I'm in NC so we don't use sniff test but they do an OBD scan. I can't really find anybody to ask who has the Hewitt tech bypass kit to ask about it

I have the full Hewitt 2.0 kit with the extra 2 sensors as well for about 2 years. It very rarely creates a pending error code (like once every 3-6 months) and goes away, never becomes a CEL. The system mimics the same voltage the actual working system does so is not detectable by the Truck or anyone looking at OBD2 information. No Toyota tech has said anything to me either about the physical appearance which is hard to see unless you know these trucks really well.

Been fine on my 2011 ,4.6 engine. Bought it last year with 24,000 miles. Low mileage but the sas came up and bit me and then had the kit put on. No problems ever since the install. Now about
28,000 miles on her. I'm up the street from you on the NC and Va border..No sniff test here either. Full kit added back in November.
