You may be right, fortunately with my 5.7 I'm not likely to have to look for a while.

the most harmonical naturally balanced motors ever created are inline 6 cylinders. I am not sure who said v8s are smoother but that is one reason why Dodge's new hurricane inline 6 made Ward's 10 best list.

Yep Dodge Hemi may make it back in Some vehicles.

Versions of it still available in a couple vehicles so far easier to do than for Toyota.

The statement was that V8s are inherently smoother than V6s, not inline 6s.

Maybe, I am not sure about the v6 but lots of other engines are better IMO than a v8. These including inline 5, boxer 6s from Subaru and Porsche. Audi made an inline 5 and Chevrolet did as well that are great motors. The v8 unless power added tends to bog down low and is a delayed power delivery. The only thing they have going for them in a truck is lower end torque and the sound of the v8 rumble at mid to low throttle. A sound box may seem cool but that is about all it does, sound cool.

The Coyote v8 from Ford is about the best sounding high performance NA v8 out. The Hemi was okay but if I was going v8 it would be the Mustang GT in some form or even the flat plane crank of the GT350.

Not all half-ton owners are looking for the same thing in engine performance. Based on your examples of what make a good engine, you and I are clearly not looking for the same things.

Whatever this forum told me to do
Are any of those "better" engines presently commercially viable?

    or were they ever?

the I5 was a flop...in every iteration. Acura did one too. Vigor. it flopped.

the Subaru boxer is notorious for oil starvation.

the Coyote does sound good...due to it's wonky firing order. sexy burble.

the GT350 flat plane. sounds almost as good, but we like TQ.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    I want a V8.
    I have a truck...I want a S/C'd V8 Stroker*.

    Why can't I have one?

The green agenda has infected all points of our economy.

Will we turn this economy around & get our V8's back?
    I doubt it.
this negative green agenda energy lie has gotten a firm foothold in our mushy minds.
so much so, that it determines fuel mileage standards that none of us voted on**.

I like the new 3.4TT. it's built for TQ.

however, Toyota shit the bed. they made a sophomoric mistake during manufacturing.
    this is a fact.
it taints my desire for it.
now, I'll need about 3 more years for it to prove itself.

*FTR I have a V8 Stroker in my '34 ford.

**Maybe SCOTUS Chevron Deference case will unclog this.

This is like the same tree hugging mentality in Cali. Zero emissions vehicles by 2035, yeah right. They have rolling blackouts but want everyone to go EV from 2035 and on. The sad part is manufs, like Toyota will give in to this nonsense. Same mentality about lifetime transmission oil, or 0w-8 engine oil. Manufs could careless about longevity nowadays, they just want to appease the government.

I'm just glad they still make a good ole Chevy 350 for marine use. My 350 is 25 years old with 1000+ hours running at 3500-4200rpms with a wot run every outing to keep it fresh. Still has perfect compression. Pure American muscle without all the garbage sensors or EPA regulations baked in.

One of the reasons I started leasing was all this technology. Vehicles are not lasting without issues like they use to. I haven't seen a turbo engine go the long haul problem free. The Ecoboost is riddled with issues and it's been out since 2009. The new Dodge inline 6 will probably be a failure. Shit we dragged it with a 5.0 Coyote F150 and has higher HP/TQ than the 5.0.

A Cybertruck or a EV Hummer or Silverado will out perform any v8 on the planet. Even faster than some supercars.

Gosh your points are way out of wackyville.

Once again, reading comprehension isn't your strong suite. Never once did I mention performance of an EV vs V8. Keep up with the discussion.

Now since you brought EVs up. Name 1 EV that can get cross country faster than any gas engine, I will wait.

Every technology has its place. Now with that said. Cali is crazy to think that they could handle the electric consumption if everyone went EV in 2035, they can't.

Speaking of the Hummer or Ford Lighting, how are their sales figures doing? Last I heard for the Ford, they couldn't even give them away. And the Cybertruck has flooded the used car market at a huge depreciation from what I hear. That's what I hear, I could careless about EVs.

I'd rather fill up in a minute than wait hours for a full charge. Plus when towing the battery doesn't last. There's no place in the real world for EV trucks, period! EV cars for the city, sure.

This!!! My brother, who lives in Cali, bought a Tesla but rents a gas-powered vehicle when he goes outside the city or camping haha. He said he is afraid to drain the batteries. EV is useless garbage outside city limits.

Lol. I once had a guy tell me, my Tesla will be at your truck. I laughed. I offered him $1000 to see who made it from S.Fla to the Florida Alabama state line quicker. Didn't take the offer. I also asked how much his Tesla could tow.

The Cybertrucks have done quite well, and a supercharger can put 100 miles worth of charge on a Tesla in 10-15 minutes. Not kind of working out for you. Also the Vegas bomber drove a Cybertruck from Colorado to Vegas and made it there without an issue. Also the bomb material he had was contained inside the armor-plated truck and the Cybertruck held the explosion in unlike most anyones rides on this forum will do. Used Cybertrucks bring more than they were originally priced similar to Porsche but the Porsche taycan is an exception to the rule. They are selling for fraction of their cost but most are not.

100 miles in 10-15 minutes! I can do 400+ in around a minute of filling up. EVs have their place, just not anywhere near truck status.

Still waiting on an EV that can make it cross country faster.
So your saying people are paying more for a used Cybertruck vs a new one, ok. Here you go.

    Exactly

    City = EV Cars
Rural / City = Plug in Hybrid
Rural = OG Hybrid ( like the Tundra )
    Tow ANYTHING = Gas

I think EV's are great for Urban driving if you have a supercharger but interstate travel is as long way off from being as easy and convenient as an ICE vehicle is.

Gee, Google and AI are never wrong, why not go to Autotrader and let me know what they are selling for. Just because Google AI says it doesn't make it so.

Apparently you did see the other hundreds of articles about the depreciation. And just because, if they are, selling at supposedly higher prices doesn't mean they are selling. Not to mention, who in their right mind would pay more for a used vehicle when they can get a brand new cheaper. Make it make sense.

Still waiting on that famous cross country EV.

Nice - I had a boat with that engine a while back - stock form - 250 HP. And it was good on gas - for a boat LOL. I have a few boats.
I almost added another exact 5.7 this summer. Deal fell through and I ended up with a 20ft Seadoo and the Mercury Optimax 250.
I needed a boat for shallow waters so Jet drive. The motor is the top end of the mercury outboard that they stuff in there.
250hp from 3.0 liters in Jet Mode. Same engine as a full outboard makes 200hp. The engine ranks on the opposite scale of reliability to the 5.7, mostly because people don't watch and maintain them. You're hanging over to work on anything. There is like no room at all if you are average size. Another reason for the lack maintenance. Mechanics dont want to work on them - no room.
The previous owner got rid of it due to the warning horn. Was fed up. I fixed that but the engine still scares the hell out of me with the air compressor and crazy build tolerances. A 2 stroke that is more refined than a 4 stroke. Its winter and parked now but I am building a platform on the short front deck for my Minnkota Power Drive in case it breaks down on the first lake trip this spring. 8^|

some of you all have trouble letting go of the past, I am sure like Mad Max you will be able to piece your rides back together via salvage yards and bubble gum repairs. As these rides approach 300-400k miles then you all will be forced to purchase something else.

okay a 24 was probably sold new for around 92-96k so that isn't too bad for a 24.
