Soo I have been attempting to diagnose my 4wd.

I had the actuator changed out while doing the steering rack, and it did not fix my problem.

I have since acquired another actuator (lifetime warrenty) and it appears to be doing the same thing.

The actuator makes a noise, but doesnt seem to want to actually move.

My 4wd button activates the front driveline accompanied with the usual blinking light and my front differential is working correctly (4wd works when the ring is moved over manually).

So i’m starting to think its the 4wd computer. Please, any thoughts?

Have you seen the 4wd diag thread? It may help.

I’m an old fart, but I much prefer the 4WD shifter over buttons and knobs. I think they are more reliable. Until this week, I was not aware you could still buy a Tundra with that option, but in talking with a service advisor, he told me the Pro trim package comes with that option. I am posting this just for what it’s worth.

While it is blinking have you tried what the visor says - drive slowly and turn right and left - this helps older systems that have not had much use - worked for me then later I changed diff fluids and that helped even more. If that does not work I would pull out the FSM and start testing what it says to test to narrow this down.

Honestly, the thread Nick linked above by @FiatRunner blows the pants off the FSM's instructions. FSM doesn't provide fundamental knowledge, nor offer videos. It's a really well-put-together thread we needed (sorely) for a long time.
