So yes,, i was going to pay a service visit to my selling dealer, I know, I know, but I'm just not going to do a full coolant flush or spark plug change myself. I was going to be in the area for the day and figured ,let them have at it. So i ask for an appointment and they asked what do I need done. I tell them, they ask, is the dealer/factory recommended service. No , not for the mileage(95,000) but I want to get it done. Well if it isn't recommended, we would have to charge a diagnostic fee to see if it's necessary.

    WHAT?

Obviously I passed, was polite in saying you people are out of your mind and I will NEVER return.

It’s like when Chick fil a stopped making the chicken minis available all day. The lady told me “we were always selling out of them. Couldn’t keep up. So we went back to just breakfast.”

Obviously they are not familiar with PREVENTATIVE maintenance.
No, no, let's wait until it breaks, or it's running poorly, then we'll fix it.
    Unbelievable.

So. Now we're/you're back to you doing it with your own hands on your own schedule.

    * do it when it is brutally convenient for you
    * do it regardless of what the manual says
    * be able to inspect the old coolant and spark plugs
    * any bitch fests and mindless arguments get to happen with the-man-in-the-mirror
    * sleep like a baby knowing it was done right.

    Did I miss anything?

*Screw something up and kick yourself for a week while you figure out how to fix it and wait for parts.

This might only apply to me :anonymous:

That's crazy! Find another place to do it if you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself. Doesn't have to be a dealer, just a good reputable shop.

I cringe at the thought of what goes on in these places. Just no!! I found the factory service manuals in paper form on eBay and I get to play with really cool diagnostic toys and tools that didn't exist in my younger days too.
