So wanted to get the automotive group feedback as I'm not sure how to address this and move forward.

    here's a condensed story

Family member has 2013 CRV asked for help in selling it. (Just for clarification it's for all purposes an extra unused car and there other cars are newish at least substantially newer then the car in question)

Me being the person who always jumps in to help says sure I'll take a look shoot photos pull a carfax and give you a full write up as to what to ask if selling private and dealership value as well as getting offers from Carvana etc

she had a interest in selling to another family member so I'm like sure I will give you a report and pricing to both of you and if you can make it work then great everybody wins.

go spent app four hours doing a full evaluation and write up turns out it had a timing chain replaced in 2018 at 38k miles and the front bumper has a tear (requiring a bumper cover replacement to fix) based on how it appears today (miles at 69k) I gave a dealership value of 7800 to 8200 carvana at 8600 and private party at 9800 to 11000 but expect sitting on it for upwards of a month to get that higher price (we had also offered to assist in selling via facebook)

in that write up I put down that the other family member would be willing to buy at 8500.

she then takes the info Friday night and says she will get back to me. Monday comes along and she says she sold the car... my response great how much did you end up getting and who did you sell to, I don't care and hope you got a great price but would like to see how my estimate compares to what actually paned out. Now radio silence.

Today low and behold car pops up at a local dealer, I'm furious two fold guaranteed she got lowballed on trade and two if the number was lower then the other family member offer was she kinda hosed them too (there in the collage years with three kids in at the same time)

also she was kinda pushy with me and another family member (not the one who needs a car) that it would be a great option for the brother in law.

really not looking towards the next family reunion!!

Sounds like you got way over invested and continue to want to be involved in a matter that didn’t concern you.

who cares what she ultimately did with her car? I always trade in vehicles because
    1. Tax benefit
    2. I hate dealing with tire kickers
    3. I don’t need someone coming back and claiming I didn’t tell them about some problem (this one really applies to friends and family)

Well this begins the feedback loop as to why are older people are cranky and unhelpful lol well at least for me.

Btw I was asked to help and yes it was her car to do with it what she wanted but she also was trying to let's say nudge my brother in law to buy it for a price she had in mind. Her initial lookup on KBB gave a value of 12,400.00 and she wanted 9k I told her given the condition 9k was a stretch.

Oh and car could only be sold no option to trade as it's tied to estate

At the end of the day my way forward is to not help in any way or fashion going forward.
