I bought a damaged Mache to fix up because nobody was bidding on it. It’s a hobby for me to buy vehicles, fix them up and then usually sell them. The Mache e was cheap - all in, I spent around $23,000 CDN to get it one the road, not putting any value on my time.

I have to say, as a skeptic I can see the logic of these cars for commuting as long as the purchase price makes sense. Where I am, it costs around $9 to fully charge the car, and that yields around 400 km. You’d likely never take it on a long trip around here because the charging network is still spotty. To date, in 6 months I’ve saved around $4000 in fuel costs. At $60k plus for some electrics, the logic of the vehicle makes less sense to my eye.

So I may keep this one.

    This boils my blood.

Why is Ford installing this on an already super efficient small truck.

They are setting a new stupid standard :annoyed:

    Are they though?

Specifically with the Maverick that has such a great mpg average.

Parts of Europe already requires the particulate filters, and I imagine the Maverick is small enough to be viable there. It is also prepping for the future, and the Maverick's efficiency and low power is actually a boon for the filters. Adding the filters drops power and decreases fuel efficiency, so putting in something that nobody expects to be powerful and that has high enough efficiency to take the hit without being labeled "bad on gas" is the best test bed for it in The States.

If you watch the video the guy does a decent job explaining it. It's going to make gassers have less power, worse MPGs, and be less reliable. All for the sake of climate agenda.

That's exactly what it'll be for. My thoughts are that if you are going to destroy the benefits of direct injection with the filter, why not just go back to port injection? Why add the filter to reduce particulates when just going back to port would do the same without the reliability hit?

My best guess is that it's something they can point to for the ESG score and marketing.

Regulations, forced PC, narratives and agendas....
