I have a Tacoma that needs a patch on the bottom of the frame. Sides and top are fine. The fuel lines run on the underside of the floor pan, about 12 inches from where I'd be welding. I've done frame welding before but never on anything that had fuel onboard. Is my only option to remove the fuel and purge the lines?

Don't even sweat it and just send it. That's not even close to fuel lines :D just ground near the welding spot and you should be golden.

Squeeze a corrugated alu sheet or something similar in between fuel lines and welding area.

Agree with this. Just don't protect the area with a fuel soaked rag and you should be good to go.

I welded the driver’s side cab corner on my 2000 tundra, which is about 10-18” from the fuel tank and filler tube. I put a chunk of plywood between the welding area and the tank to prevent sparks from getting close to the tank.

A buddy of mine who works on exhaust told me to just make sure nothing is leaking and the gas cap is on tight.
