One day I grew up some years ago, got out of the 'sports car' scene and into my first Tundra, a 12' 2WD SR5 in MGM. Loved that truck and served me well for a little over 6 years. Nothing at all wrong when I sold it, and the market for the used trucks at that time was in my favor so off it went to a new owner with 5100's all around, 20's on Cooper AT3's, RSB and other misc mods in lieu of a 21' Limited Cement. This too has not at all stayed stock, but I'm a huge proponent of easily reversible mods, not cutting/splicing wires and so forth. In the tunes department, I already had the oh so terrible JBL 'premium audio'. I supplemented this with tech12volts 10" single sub and box as well as his JBL DSP 8 channel amp and a wireless CarPlay adapter. No longer being in my 20's this is more than enough for me other than upcoming sound deadening. The 21' has also been lifted on 6112/5160's and Toytec shackles (those bushings were fun), I've got TRD front and rear sway bars (disconnect if/when needed) 17" Icon Vector 5's on Toyo OC AT3's in 35x12.50r17 (spaced the front bumper, flaps removed, minimal rub in reverse, full lock). I've done some AJT bits and pieces inside as well. Of course I had to Line-X the bed which is covered by the factory tri fold tonneau cover. Absolutely love this truck sitting at 49K now and plan to keep it as long as it'll let me. Located in the Carolina's and my hobby is backpacking so going down FSR's is a common thing for me, hence some of the suspension/tire upgrades. Working on chrome removal now, and down to the smart key handles and currently looking for some chrome bumper caps with sensor holes that I can have de-plated, etched and then powder coated.

It's crazy, in all the years I've been modifying vehicles, I've never been so close to the final form in my head, in reality. Not sure what I'll do with myself if/when the day ever comes.

    Cheers

Wait a minute, you're not familiar with Bob Gibson? https://bigbobgibson.com/

Perhaps I've shown another hobby of mine, BBQ. This guy Bob is the source of Alabama White BBQ sauce, he dunks his half chickens in it.

I'll refrain from any FSU comments after this recent season :boink:

Hmmm, I checked out the web site. Nope, never heard of him, BUT he is in North Alabama, and I am on the coast. And I have typically shied away from white BBQ sauces. But I may have to check his out.

I too considered those, but I'm a bit anal retentive to some degree. With the sonar sensors, and the pictures I've seen, it leaves a dimple in the bumper shells. While most wouldn't care/mind it would drive me nuts. That and the powder coating job is $75 a corner once they are prepped. So all in, less than the cost of the Bumper Shellz assuming the de-plating of the chrome is less than $100.

That's a great plan as well. You could always go full tilt if you wanted too.

I've gone back and forth on full bumper replacement too. The problem I have is that I haven't found anything I love the looks of. I'm, for the most part an OEM+ kinda guy, which is why I was going down the chrome delete/bumper cap route. I have considered the stealth bumper/winch however for the black center section. But for the entire bumper, most to me just look 'bolted on' and done necessarily follow the lines of the front end, and are simply black in color which to me makes the stand out, vs blend in. Toss in that I already pony'd up for DD SS3 Pro's which I'd like to retain, and my options diminish even more. Not to mention cost here.

Cost is the most prohibitive factor for sure. If you're looking for a stock look, it sounds like you're on the right track. Your truck looks sic right now but once the bumper caps get powder coated it's going to blend a lot better. Can't wait to see what the final vision looks like.
